Is it possible to stack rings together without damage

I have finally decided on my reset! I have a solitaire (semi-bezel) and I am going to go with a new Leon. I love the stacked look, and I love to change up the bands.
I have noticed on my temporary palladium setting quite a bit of damage from my share prong eternity ring. It is the only ring I wear next to it. So my question is this:
what can I do, if anything, to have my new ring made so it won''t be damaged by stacking. I would have to have my 5 stone re-set, because it has north/south prongs
that really chew up other rings. Can an eternity be remade that won''t cause any damage? I really don''t like wearing a spacer band, I would rather stack three diamond
bands. I know Leon isn''t a fan of wearing rings together, so I thought I would get your suggestions before I broach the topic with him.

I imagine I would have to have the setting made a little bit higher than he usually does, but is there anything else I am missing? It will be a combo of image r1267 (page 4)
and r1014 (page 5). It is a round stone, but with the double claw prongs.

Curious to read what others suggest. I am also thinking of contacting LM for a custom setting (one sided pave with engraving) and strongly desire to stack eternity rings above and below the setting. I know he strongly advises against wearing a wb or stacking with his settings but there has to be some mutually agreeable solution.

Oooh, no, I definitely wouldn''t wear another ring with either of those settings. I can''t see any way where damage *wouldn''t* happen.

I asked a similar question on RT yesterday about wearing a shared prong eternity with my 18k yellow gold solitaire. I got lots of responses from people who do it with no damage and a couple from posters who said the girdles of the diamonds will cut into the metal of the solitaire. I''m looking for two small eternity bands of about 2-3mm width but I''m wondering if the question is the same: can you wear an eternity with other rings without damage and without soldering them together?

I''ll be interested to know what you hear from our experts!

The 1014 would be without the pave. There must be some way to work this out. I don''t think I could wear just a solitaire. I want the diamond to pop, and I like the juxtaposition
of shiny metal and stones. Could the 1267 be made a little higher to avoid damage? I mean, if I had a 7 ct. diamond, I could wear it alone, but that isn''t going to happen.

My original wedding band is a wide yellow gold band that matches my DH and I would like to wear it with it occasionally too.


Grrrr..... just when I think I have the problem figured out.....

I really need some experts to weigh in on possible solutions... PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gayle- I thought I was doing it with no damage as well...until I took a close look at my palladium ring. This has all happened in six months. When I spoke with Leon
a few months ago and suggested wearing the eternity with another ring, he mentioned damage, but it didn''t seem like I was doing any at the time. Now I see the truth of it,
but I would really like to find a solution.

If Leon made his style r559 and had the band wrap the girdle would that take care of the problem? Or maybe a semi-bezel around the girdle?

I have found that even gold bands rubbing on each other will start to show scratches. I really wanted to keep my ering and wring separate but they really started to get beat up from rubbing.

I''m really glad to hear about your experience. I may need to go the route suggested by another poster in the RT thread-she has a 1mm platinum spacer band specifically to wear with the eternity. She said that it was inexpensive and hardly shows at all. It might be my best bet.

Gayle, here is the link to the site from where I purchased my 1mm band. It was actually listed as a toe ring. I don''t see the 1mm bands listed anymore, but I bet if you send them a message, they would make you one. If not, I know a few other PS''ers have found 1mm bands from other places, but they can be difficult to find! Most places start at 2mm.

Actually, I just found a 14kt yellow gold one! I''m sure they could do white gold, too. They sized mine for me, free of charge. Hope this helps!

Yes, I''m seeing the same thing even with very occasional wear. I''m not married yet, but sometimes I cheat and put the wedding band on at home, and even though my set was specifically made to be worn together (it''s the one in my avatar), I''m seeing scratches on both rings'' inner surfaces. This is after less than 24 hours of actual wear and no hard use.

You're going to have damage. Period. There's no way around it unless you solder them together or wear a spacer. If it's only metal touching metal you'll just get scratches over time. If it's diamonds against metal though like with a pave leon or eternity band it'll eat away at your other band over time.

Yes, Neatfreak, my question on RT was a bit confusing! I meant to ask about wearing a shared prong eternity with another solitaire-first an 18k yg soitaire and, later, a platinum solitaire. I thought that the metal in the eternity band would be the problem and while that is an issue, what I have learned is that with the shared prong style it''s not the metal that will harm my solitaire the most but that the diamonds will damage 18k or platinum, yes?

Yes it''s possible to stack rings together without damage, however it requires forethought and all rings when worn next to one another will cause some wear and tear just by nature of friction and using your hands.
