Okay, these may be stupid questions but I have two...

Is it possible to insert diamonds into a channel setting after the setting has been constructed? There is an e-ring that I want to get but I do not like the quality of diamonds in it. Can I get just the plain setting and have a jeweler put in dimaonds into a channel setting? Was not sure because of it being a channel setting.

Also, if the channel setting currently holds tappered baguettes, could I have the jeweler put in tapered princesses instead.

I know I should ask the jeweler these questions, but decided to ask here first because I have not yet decided on one to use.

Why not just have a setting made by someone who could put in the quality of diamonds that you desire? Having the setting done custom would allow you to choose exactly what you want.

As far as the tapered baguettes goes, that I can't say without seeing the ring. But honestly, you probably want a setting made for the type of sidestones that you want. I wouldn't buy a setting with one type of sidestones and try to put some other cut into it.

Channel set diamonds can sometimes be delicate and I don't think that putting different diamonds in later is a good idea at all.

Thanks for the info. I just thought since I found the setting it may be much more economical to buy it then have it recreated... but obviosuly not if its not possible!
