Is my ering to small for a halo upgrade?

My ring is about a .33 carat I believe but I could be wrong. Its just a little small for me but I could never replace it since its my mothers who passed away when I was young. My husband did put it into a new setting for me but im looking for something a little different. So I was thinking of adding a halo to it but wasnt sure if my diamond is to small for that? Any Suggestions? I am gonna get a 3rd band to go on the top to add to it a little bit but it still seems a lil boring for me. Im just trying to think of other ways to make it look a little bigger and sparkle a little more! Thanks!

I think a halo would be beautiful! You''d just have to find one that could accommodate your stone size.
 
It would be one of the smallest I have seen, however I think it would be pretty and would probably give you
the size and extra bling you are looking for. It may tend to overshadow your .33 but as long as its added
bling you might not care (?)

You could go with something like this that has a hairline in between your main stone and the halo so it still makes
your stone stand out (and will give much greater finger coverage). (ignore the first shot...just look at halo example)

This is a 1.1 stone so it is somewhat large to start with. I think the halo is lovely!

I think a halo would be beautiful with you stone. You just need to find the right one that will work for your stone. Tiffany''s makes the legacy starting with a diamond that is .30 and it''s just lovely!

Your diamond wouldn''t be too small at ALL for a Halo. If anything, a Halo mounting often adds some "size" to the center stone that it surrounds, so I think it''s a great idea and I love the sentimental attachment to it as well. If you can''t find one in a store that fits your size, keep in mind that there are also a plethora of places that will custom make one for your diamond.

I''m not usually big on halos but I do like the Tacori 2620, I just find it subtle and beautiful. They say they can make it to accommodate a 0.4 carat stone. Since you aren''t sure of the weight of your stone it might be worth checking into.

The other option is that you could turn it into a 3 stone eg .30 1c .30, or whatever dimensions you like, thereby still keepiing your mums stone.

Halo is also lovely.

A halo or a double halo would be lovely and give you the bling factor you desire. I have a .38 e-ring I haloed and made into a pendant. From a distance it looks more like a 1 ct diameter.
 
Or you could do a three stone with all three the same size stones. Or maybe more of an antique cluster style with the surrounding halo not too dainty but still smaller than the center stone of course.

i have a pair of earrings - .64ctw - so, .32 each - and at some point i intend to get them halo''d. i''m going to be using stones of 2 points (.02ct) each - so small and delicate - but i think it will look lovely.

so i''d have to say - yes! halo your ring - i think it will look great!

just be sure to use a jeweler experienced in delicate halo work. also, you might want to rethink the 3rd band if you go this route - there''s a risk they wouldnt sit together well and, instead of making it all look bigger - could just clash or look uncoordinated. you seem to have a diamond wedding ring; you may well find that your wedding ring and a new halo engagement ring are enough. you want it all to ''work together''.

I think a halo would look great. Tiffany''s has such a smaller diamond halo ring in their rings collection.
 
I don't think it's too small. Double halo was what I was going to suggest. I'll use eBay because I can pull examples from there quickly. eBay 370326793576 for delicate. eBay 370326126760 for bolder. If the mounting has a ring for the stone like 370326126760, it can be replaced with the correct size. If it has any kind of peg head, it can be changed. Solder an illusion plate in and drop the diamond into it is another vintage look you could do. An illusion head (boxy head) mounting will make it look bigger because there's a metal "halo" around the diamond. Adwar, I think it is, has some mountings that put a metal head around the stone but not the vintage type. More "Machine Age" or Streamline era, or contemporary look.

and snoble - there''s also the idea of a bezeled cluster, which is what i have as a 10th anniversary ring. here''s one with a .57 center stone - you can see how much finger coverage this would give from a smallish stone...

if you bezeled the center stone as well, which the one in the above link wasn''t - i suspect yours would come out a similar size.

here''s mine - with a bezeled center stone. it''s a .72 center stone with .2 stones surrounding it. BIG finger coverage.

Welcome. I think it would be beautiful as a halo. You would just have to choose smaller sized stones to go around it. Make sure you like the proportion and you may need to get it custom done.
 
This diamond size is perfect for a 5-stone ring. Just add 4 more similar size diamonds, and you will have a madly sparkling, yet classic and elegant ring (more so than a "very small" halo diamond ring).
 
I don''t think it would be too small at all. I tried on a Legacy that was about .4 and it didn''t look too small of a center stone at all to me. I love halos and I bet it would look beautiful.
 
How sentimental and truly special.. I think to halo it would be stunning. It will focus on the stone even more.

I agree that a halo would be lovely with your diamond. Just be sure to work with a jeweler who will do a great job for you. It is delicate work and you won't be wanting a halo that is overdone. If you can, take a look at the Hearts of Fire Repertoire ring. It has an airline and the work is beautiful. You may not want to pay HOF prices, but you can see what is possible.

I havent bought from this seller but the word is that they have amazing prices for the quality they offer. If you get any one of those settings you can negotiate a lower price since you can tell them not to include the center stone. jUST MAKE SURE THAT YOUR DIAMOND WILL LOOK OK WITH THEIR DIAMONDS. IE don''t get the whitest diamonds from them unless your diamond is also very white.

I agree. this Ritani is from Pearlmans and the center stone is .31! I think it's gorgeous!!

I think a halo would be awesome! I prefer halos on smaller diamonds.
 
Your diamond is definitely not too small for a halo. Whiteflash and BGD both offer diamond jackets (i.e. halos for earrings) for 0.3 carat earrings as a standard offering - and they look divine! I think a halo will be beautiful with your diamond.

You can use an illusion head or illusion plate to fill in if the mounting was made for a bigger stone. That's an illusion head. Illusion settings were often used for .25ct to .5ct, 1930s or '40s into the '70s or so. They disappeared then came back.

I think the diamond ring in this is about 3mm to 3.5mm across at most. Probably 3mm.
