So, for our re-wedding, I am wearing this dress

and I am going for a sort of vintage feel, with birdcage veil, vintagey invites, vintage earrings and watch. The venue is a really old inn that is now a restaurant, we will have the ceremony on the beautiful big old porch.

Now, I really want to wear one of these necklaces of DH.

My Mom says no, it's too casual. But I think its really cute.

What do you guys think? It's this or pearls. For what it's worth, my dress is ivory.

Thanks!

ETA: I am not wearing the brooch on the dress. It's fugly and I already broke it

CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am with your Mom on this one. It wouldn''t be my choice.

You''re on crack Freke...
Don''t listen to Freke, she''s a crackberry addict. It''s fried her brain blue.

I agree. Wear the pearls and the cute but too casual (but not really creepy) necklace on your honeymoon.

Honestly? I don''t love it with your dress.... I''m sorry! I''m just being honest. I think pearls would be much nicer.

Too casual, Miracles, or creepy?

Does it change your mind that it''s brunch? And no dancing, etc? Really super simple event, not a formal wedding.

Promise I am not that poster that is asking but not really asking opinions, but just curious as to why you don''t like it

CREEPY!!! but i hate dolls and they creep me out too. so take that with a grain of salt! the dress is GORGEOUS though!!!!

The multiples look too busy. Maybe one charm attached to a pearl necklace? Almost choker style?

It could be a nice mix of the two.

I know you weren''t asking me, I like the idea of the necklace in general... It''s cute. It''s just not something that goes with a long, ivory dress.

I''m with TGal, wear it on your honeymoon.

I don''t think it''s creepy at all. But that''s coming from a girl who thinks it''s haute that Angelina Jolie kept her DH''s blood in a vial over her heart. So it takes a lot to creep me out.

I went back and realized that you weren''t planning on wearing a boatload of pictures in different sizes but probably just meant one picture pendant of your DH, right?

That made me pause...but didn''t sway me from my opinion. I guess I would have to see the whole vibe for it too make any sense to me. My gut tells me to go for the pearls.

I don''t like it for the brunch because it looks plain and frankly kinda dull and dirty. The rings that they come in that is. If the profile was in a really pretty silver or gold frame on a ribbon, then maybe. But the way they are shown, absolutely not. Go with the pearls! Your dress is gorgeous!

Why are your options "cute" or "creepy"?

I wouldn''t say its creepy but its not suitable even for an informal wedding.

JMO, but that kind of necklace is suitable for a theme party or something. Also, it looks cheap.

it kind of creeps me out but those silhouette type necklaces have always given me the heeby jeebies :) i have no idea why but ive never owned one

Oh I love it,
but I like creepy things so maybe that''s a bad sign.

I''m for it tho!

Always listen to your mother!

seriously, if you really want to use one of those silhouettes, just add a single charm to your bracelet, or to your bouquet.

But... the "off" part to me is that in weddings, sentimental tokens of that sort are usually used in remembrance of someone who has passed away... or in other circumstances a mother might have one of her child... but in your case, you''re about to (re-) marry the real flesh and blood thing

so why would you need to carry something that "represents" him?

Eh, I''m (and ck is too apparently) weird.

Nah, you''re not wierd...just creepy

WOOT! I like creepy.

And wonky.

Hmmm, not sure about this. I thought it might help that she has 4 options for the metal ring around the picture, but they all look rather industrial to me. I personally wouldn't spend the money on one, but they do sort of weird me out a bit, so maybe I just don't get them.

Personally, I think an antique locket would look nicer and fit your theme better, and maybe you could put your DH's silhouette in there instead. But that's just me.

THIS!!

That could be a great aternative. I absolutely LOVE your dress and I think a chunky necklace like the one you linked would spoil it somewhat.

Or to go really vintage, have you considered a cameo necklace?

yeah yeah yeah, I prefer unconventional

Not creepy, but too casual IMO for that particular dress. Now, if you could find a compromise that includes a vintage pearl necklace with only one silhouette pendant, perhaps ...

Ha, Freke....add me to the weird list

For the record, I was going to just have one single pendant, and probably the shinier gold from the last of her pages of options.

The thing with the pearls (and this is bratty) is that I have ALWAYS wanted a strand of graduated pearls. But, that is just not in the budget and I don''t want to wear fakes. I have, and family members have, various types of non-graduated pearls that I could wear, but I just can''t get into them.

Thanks, ladies, for the opinions! I have a lot to think about

it''s definite NOT creepy. it''s pretty nostalgic... specially if you are going to wear that necklace. i can''t see why your mom said it looks casual.

PS thanks those who complimented my dress! I picked it up the other day and am trying really hard not to wear it around the house!

Hmmmm on a ribbon ilovesparkles...there''s an idea. I was never going to use the ball chain they have in the picture.

Maybe I could look for something similar that was dressier looking.

If I decide against it, do I really need a necklace?

I don''t think so! The deeper sweetheart neckline is great! I am with the girls who don''t necessarily think its a great match for your dress, especially with a vintage watch, birdcage veil, etc. I feel like it will take away from the dress in a way.
