Is this normal in the colored stone business

This is so strange. I received an email from NSC for their 4th of July sale and found my ring for sale again. I knew that they would reset the orinal setting with a new sapphire, but I just wasn't expecting the same sapphire (carat and dimensions are exactly identical - even the image used is exactly the same). Is this possible? Can there be more than one natural sapphire with the same carat and dimensions in this world for sale by the same company? Take a look for yourselves and let me know what you think? I'm posting the image of the ring that I saved on my computer and you can go here for the ring on sale today:

Definitely puzzling. Could someone have made an error? This is not normal in the coloured stone business but NSC is well known for
reusing photos. Even if they did re-use the image, why would it have the exact carat weight and dimensions?

Chrono, thank you for your response. I have sent an email to NSC to see what they have to say. The GIA certificate is slightly off on the dimensions and the carat weight, instead of NSC's 1.65ct, GIA was 1.67ct. It makes me feel that I wasn't sent the orginal sapphire if they still have it to sell!

I think NSC once posted here defending photoshopping the same perfect star onto many star sapphires they had for sale, "justifying" it by saying they have a good return policy.

GRRRR~ :angryfire: :angryfire: :angryfire:

I'd boycott them for that alone.

Whether its a sloppy mistake or a willful disregard for truth in advertising, its pitiful and is exactly why they have such a bad reputation.

They may be reusing your photo because it's probably a popular hot seller due to the popularity of the Kate/Diana ring. I've seen other online jewelers do the same thing with reusing photos, or using a stock type photo. However, I would personally want to actually see the stone/ring I'm buying , and not some similar representative. Let us know what they say.

Wasn't it NSC that took a photo of a single sapphire, then mirrored it at an angle to create a matching set. I'm just not a fan. It seems very dishonest to me.

NSC got back to me today to say that it was a mistake and that they have removed the ring from their website. I agree with what everyone has said, no matter what the excuse it does not look good for them.

...and the cynic in me wants to know how many other umm..."mistakes" just like that are currently on their website... :nono:

I agree Minousbijoux. Here is the response, " I took a look into this and I am glad you found that as it was an error on the part of the person doing jewelry cataloguing. They marked the ring to upload onto the site when they should not have as obviously that stone is gone and sold to you."

I really hope it was an innocent mistake, but I have heard of jewelers using stock images and only making the ring once it was ordered.

There's really no other response NSC can offer other than to say it was an honest error.
