Is this suspicious?

A scam.
There are actually two types.
1 is the fake bank check which will “bounce” after you try and cash it.
2. Is the shipper scam. Here you are told you need to pay the shipper yourself, usually western union or iTunes cards but you can wait until the check they give you clears (it won’t) before sending them the item. The scam here is to get the couple of hundred bucks you paid for shipping.
Only accept PayPal.

Re: Poshmark, I had an account that I never used. Last month, there was a purchase via Paypal from them for $300+ which I obviously didn't make! Paypal refunded my money and I closed the Poshmark account, but wow! that was weird! I also changed my Paypal and bank account passwords.

I've had a scammer on ebay recently who sent me a moderately legitimate looking 'confirmation of PayPal transaction' . Fortunately, checking my actual PayPal account immediately showed me that no money had been transferred and it was quickly clear that this person was trying to get me to send them a two thousand dollar ring without actually paying for it. I've sold enough stuff that my flags went up pretty quickly, but s/he could easily have fooled a new seller because the fake PayPal emails were fairly convincing. I just keep thinking - imagine if this person put the same amount of effort into doing an actual job as they do into perpetrating ebay scams! I'm sure they would go far....

Thank you for posting this! I have not heard of this one before.
