Hi Paul A.
Just a comment on the exchange rate comments that you made- dismissing any real difference regarding diamonds. Diamonds may be priced in USD, just as oil is priced in USD. In the Uk, due to a variety of factors(one being taxes on Petrol) the conversion of UK petrol prices into USD means UK consumers pay $9.00 a gallon vs $ 3.30 for US consumers. The same holds true for diamonds. Real Estate is much more expensive there and the tradition may be that gems are more expensive there.
Now we come to the value of the British pound vs the US dollar. When evaluating currencies you look at the purchasing power of a particular currency. The UK currency is very strong aat this time and Tiffany just reported its earnings today and said that Europeons were coming to the US to buy from them although they have a store in London. The pound''s purchasing power is at an all time high vs the US dollar. You actually can buy things cheaper here than in the UK- real estate as well.
They are two separate issues. I commend those who found the best value for their currency. You did very well.
Thanks,
Annette

Its so special, very personal, and fantastic when it all comes together.
