109? I think? I live in the Phoenix area. It doesn't bother me, but then again I was disappointed when I did Bikram yoga because I really thought it would be hotter.

ETA- Today's high will be 113.

I'm baking in Phoenix also, but I've always lived in deserts so I freeze below 80. It's a desert rat thing :wink2:

When you leave work at 1:30 in the morning
and the heat makes you squint when you walk out of the building,
you know you're living in hell. :angryfire:

I'm studying in North Carolina this summer and it was a BEAUTIFUL day today. Felt like the mid-70s. Sunny. Not as humid as home (Chicago). I could get used to this weather!

You must be by the coast.
Nope! I'm up in the mountains on the west side of the state. Today was another gorgeous day. I am ready to trade in Chicago for North Carolina!

we hit 111 yesterday, 2nd hottest on record for the city.

Here in Tucson, AZ, we had a high of 113 today.

A fellow Tucsonan! :D :wavey:

It was so hot that even with our swamp coolers turned on high since 8am, it was still 85 degrees inside at 3pm. This heat sensitive preggo lady went home early...to a nice refrigerated air conditioned 72 degree temperature.

I'm guessing tomorrow will not be much better...

Try to stay cool people! Popsicles and lemonade for everyone! (Except Haven, who is one lucky lady right now!)

East coast of Scotland -I just put on a second sweater. The maximum temp forecast for here today is 15 decrees C, lowest 9 decrees C.

That sounds more like todays weather in Dublin as well. It was 26C yesterday and today it's only 16. Where is the nice weather gone? At least it's stopped raining!

What's it like this morning there? It's going to be hot here today, I think. Clear blue sky and sun.

It's gone back to normal here after hitting 31C yesterday. The forecast for today is a maximum of 20; currently it's 17 - bliss!

I always laugh when someone says of the heat in the SW (US), "but it's a DRY heat!" As if 110*, for example, isn't bad at all as long as it's not humid. I never got that logic. Humid or not, that's still d@mn hot!

It's about 15 degrees C here at the moment. It started off quite nice but apparently we're due rain later today and I can see the dark grey clouds coming. I wish it would heat up a bit more. I hope that you have nicer weather than we have!

Temps being equal, I'll still take the dry heat over the humid, if I must choose. You couldn't PAY me to live in some place like Houston or Florida.

And yay for a tiny break at least: it is actually RAINING!! And it's not supposed to get over 91 today. Then back up to 102 tomorrow, darn it. But hey, at least it isn't 110.

Summer of '80 and summer of '98 stand out in my mind. As I recall, summer of '80 was most days over 100, and '98 was like a month of days over 105 with a drought that pulled our Oklahoma clay up to 3 inches away from homes' foundations. Brutal. But since I was house-hunting that summer, it sure helped me see which houses had true structural integrity. I saw more foundation issues - cracks in outer brick walls and inner drywalls, than I've ever seen since.... Around here, you water your foundation with soaker hoses or risk having to have your house jacked up.

But it's true - being just hot and being SWEATY and hot are two different things! I'll take my dry desert heat over Georgia or Kansas any day!

ZOE, I ditto Ksinger and MP! I think a dry heat is bleh at 100 degrees but add humidity and you are sweating like crazy! I went to Savannah, GA when it was 99 degrees and Florida when it was 90 degrees but the humidity makes you need another shower the moment you walk out of the house. I can stay dry in 100 degree desert weather if I don't do anything. lol

It was 100 degrees today. I started to sweat walking from my back door to my car. :nono:

Mid 60s all week!
Me too! I live right on the Monterey Bay and love the climate. The 10 day forecast is highs in the 60s with lows in the 50s. I used to live in Georgia. I don't miss the summer heat/humidity at all!

crazy weather today ..3/4 " rain in June??
i live here for 45 yrs and had never seen it rain 3/4 " in June !!

It has been close to 100, if not over 100 for quite a few days now. Add to that the fact that we are in a severe drought, and we are "Extra Crispy" at this point. God help us if one of our many wildfires should become uncontrollable.

Okay, okay...I'll believe you, Skippy, MP, and Ksinger. You'd know better than me (I've been in temps quite that high). It still sounds funny though.

Yeah, word has it that Lake Travis - normally at 681 - is at 646 right now. Our "lakes" (if you can call them that) are drying up at quite a clip too....

(Since I'm a sailor's wife: I not only get to hear HIM whine, I get his friends posting pathetic "I'm miserable too, water is down and I can't sail" updates on my FB page.)

For the last 2 days we've had reasonably significant rain. Extremely odd for this time of year, but we'll take every drop we can get. It won't break the drought, but it reduces dust and the fire danger at least.

Oops. I meant to say that I've never been in temps quite that high.

Try a dry sauna at a gym, then do the steamroom. You'll get the idea. ;))

I just got back from Kentucky, and while not as hot, it was so dang humid, I was just sapped. And NO wind to cool you either. It was freaky. Oklahoma has constant wind, hot or cold. Wind. Lots of it. The trees (paltry as they are) even grow to the shape of that prevailing wind. Kentucky? Dead still, and trees straight as arrows. Weird to a plains girl like me.

Actually you still sweat, just low humidity means faster evaporation, so you don't feel that sticky.

I am in the southern hemisphere, tropical region. We just had our coldest say in 8 years: 6C. Yes, we are wimps in the cold but we don't have internal heat or double glazing so, when it is 6C outside, it is 6C inside, with the added bonus of those lovely cool drafts.
