Maybe something like Nicole Ritchie''s engagement ring? A halo for the stone and I can''t remember right now what the rest looks like I''ll try to find a photo.

Thanks for such a fast response!! I definately like the side diamonds- the chunky look- I know one thing the stone dosen''t need alot competing with it because it is unbelievable! I love diamonds on the side- it think it makes the yellow just "pop"!!

ooooh! I second the nicole ritchie ring!!! I the thin halo and tiny band are just enough to really bring out the stone!!!! OMG that would be so fabolous!!!!

Oooh la la!

What a fab Yellow!

I agree the "Nicole Ritchie" setting would be just yummy but as a 2nd idea I''d suggest going with tapered white baguettes or trills--classic yet stunning styles. This stone is a showpiece--you don''t want a lot competing with it (Nicole''s ring has very small stones in the halo setting which would be awesome to set your stone off as well).

Can''t wait to see the ring!

Are you going to set it North/ South or East/West? Is there anthign you dont want for sure?

I know I want it north/south- I dont think I like the halo look around it because thats what I thought I wanted at first, but I rigged something up to get the efect and I didn''t like it as well as I thought. I have laid it out with a mounting I had and some cz trillions just to get the effect (the stone is just setting here - its not set) - But I know I want it to be very striking. I was also thinking long brilliant trapazoids, and kites, and trillions!! Then I was thinking of a wide pave split shank with the opening in the shank, but I don''t know!! I have long fingers and I was even thinking of a tapered brilliant baguette down each side and make it a solitaire- I LOVE the long skinny look to the stone-

Wow! You sure have one of a kind rock

The shape is unbelievably elegant ...

I do not know Nicole''s ring, but one of the famed rings talked about on Pricescope is a Cartier-esque solitaire covered with fancy yellow pave not unlike THIS

However, the unusual elongated shape invites to design...perhaps some small colorless sidestones (traps ?) would accentuate the slender profile and span the finger, although long, slender baguette-like sides set alongside the center would look very Deco (the look of Gothic organon pipes) like THIS. For some reason step cut colorless sides sound interesting (both traps and baguettes mentioned above would be step cut). I am pretty sure any jeweler you might entrust with this project can show you some dazzling options.

this one refulsed to get attached to the previous post...

Close up the cut of that wonder is nothing short of fabulous too... Is it just "fancy yellow" ? from this sie of the screen pictures show allot more color than that. Just wonderful. Thank you for posting the question, it is a real pleasure to take a peek atsuch superb stone !

Are there more pictures like that? that REALLY helps with the visualization !
not for the moment... those I put up myself from bits and pieces of pictures. If this helps, any number of "simulated rings" can be made up.

The image of the baguette sidestones comes from a yellow sapphire ring at Rau Jewelry - there are three "steps" in that ring though and I took out just two.

The more I looked at them thats what I was thinking- I was like , That''s exactly like my diamond!!! Greatly appreciate you doing that!! The stone is cut like there is no tomorrow! You totally get lost in it- when I first saw it, I started shaking! It "had me at hello"!!!

that is going to be one stunning ring whatever you decide!

can''t wait to see it!

Isn''t Valeria just incredible?

I adore the deco-like mounting with the vertical baguettes & think it would look fabulous with your stone. (actually, it *does* look fabulous with your stone!) Have you thought of having the prongs which mount your yellow diamond in yellow gold & the rest of the mounting in platinum?

Let us know what you decide.

I swear I think thats it!! I would love to see an image with long brilliant trapazoids too- That was my first thought, but I LOVE those descending baguettes!! I dont know about the yellow gold- I cannot decide whether to do the whole thing in platinum and have a gold bottom in the base of the head - My custom lady puts 22 kt gold underneath to bring the color out , or just forget that and do the entire head in 18 kt gold? not sure yet.

Whatever you decide it''s going to be amazing!!!!!

I looooooooooove the baguette look ana posted....I couldn''t really "see" it until she mocked it up...but talk about elegant and stunning! Good lord - it''s a whopper. What a fabulous stone...whatever you decide, you''re going to have so much fun with this ring!!!

I think the mocked up one is great as well! Where did you find such a beautiful stone? You said you made something that looked like a halo do you have a photo of that as well. I love halos, but there are so many things you can do with this stone that I can see why you are having a hard time deciding!

HI:

I don''t know how I missed this

--what an incredible yellow wonder.... Tell us more about it--the shape is absolutely fab!!!!!! As for the setting I would want something very simple--as Ana illustrated.

cheers--Sharon

I REALLY appreciate all of your opinions!!! I found a pair of brilliant Traps that measure 7.95 x 3.95 that I think may look great with it - I also found another pair that are 7.5 x 3.1 that may work as well. I would LOVE to see a visual of long traps- have you all seen the pentagon side stones? they would be awesome with this- they are a blend between a half moon and a trillion Like an angular half moon I guess- Those would be great!!!- here are those traps I found

Wow, those traps are so nice. Either step-cut or brilliant - perfect choice.

David from Diamondsbylauren (this is the name of his website and avatar on Pricescope too) shows such "angular halfmoons" among the sample sidestone types available for his rings. For unknown reason, David calls these "homeplates" (see them HERE) - no one else does and I doubt these have an official name to set them aprt from the traditional halfmoons. The drawing below shows what they might look like with your stone, and they surely look great I think - not at least because that shape is unusual just like your stone is.

The examples of 'homeplates' down the page linked above do not look particularly long, but the story changes a bit when the stones are set, because their width is somewhat hidden by the edge of the center stone. And there are very elongated ones too... Like these:

The complete description of the sapphire ring is found HERE: 16mm long sapphire and 12mm long diamond sides...

Continuing to digress... the sidestones you found look allot better, don''t you think ?

this should have been attached to the previous post.

Have you seen Windowshopper's ring ? Her starting idea came from a deco ring with a large, elongated rectangular stones and small trap sides. The final project digresses in a rather grand manner !

. That last one you posted is a stunning mock up... really wow!

This is a little late but...is this going to be your e-ring or a RHR? If it will be your e-ring will you be wearing a band with it?

HOW DID I MISS THIS THREAD????

Radianttiff: That stone is incredible!!

So I''m reading along, imagining what I''d do with it ....and bingo!...Valeria has already created "my dream"!!

I think the long baguette "steps" off the center stone is sensational. That would be my pick. The long traps are nice...but I really like all the stones having the same 90 degree angles..

CAN''T WAIT to se what you finally decide, and to see the resulting masterpiece!!

the small picture comes from this...

Sorry for the so-so looks - I am away from my usual computer with no means to adjust lighting, shadows and so forth. These pictures can get allot more realistic easily.
