I'm going to Italy for 7 weeks this summer, and I need places to go, things to see! I'll be based in Milan, but I think I'll have a lot of time to go around.

I know a couple of PSeres are wanting/planning to go, so if you could share your plans?

*jots down Como, Bellagio*

BF and I already have plans involving a sailboat and a lake (probably Lago Maggiore, since that is where he lives.)

For sure, I will head down to Rome, and probably Bologna...Paris, as well.

Actually I would only spend a short time in Naples, on your way to Pompeii (sorry for the typo).

We are going there as well in one month. We are hitting up Milan, Lake Como and Rome - we are sooo excited!! Definitely add Lake Como to your list since it''s only about a 40 min. train ride from Milan. It''s supposed to be gorgeous and has lots of yummy restaurants!

You lucky duck! The Amalfi Coast is a must. What do you like to do most? Visit museums, sight-see, eat, etc.?

EAT!!!! And soak up local color. So, I guess I''m trying to find the little hole-in-the-wall places to eat, great bakeries, etc.

I think I mostly just want to hear what someone''s favorite thing to experience is, and where. It''ll all get filed away mentally, and I''m going to bounce ideas off my friends.

I lived in Como for 2 years and it''s gorgeous - the food isn''t great (wrong province).

If you want great food, Piedmonte or the Veneto are the place to go.

The Colli Euganei near Padova are beautiful, especially Arqua Petrarca and Monselice.

Try to go to one of the thermal spas - my favourite is Saturnia in Southern Tuscany. It''s incredible... this huge outdoor pool with natural rock bottom with thousands of gallons of natural water coming up every hour, all at 37 degrees centigrade. Swimming in water that warm is so weird!

In Tuscany, try and go to Montepulciano, Montelcino, Siena, Cortona, Arezzo (go to the Giostra del Saraceno if you can).

There are so many amazing places - I was there for 8 years and still haven''t been south of Rome, there is so much to see everywhere!

Pandora,

I''m adding thermal spas to the list. BF says you come out with baby''s skin.

Julie, check out my thread on Italy from March of this year.

My vote goes to Positano and the entire Amalfi Coast. Maybe rent a villa for a week at www.rentvillas.com and hang out by the ocean? I am DYING to go back to the Amalfi Coast of our entire trip to Italy.
