I think it also has something to do with the size of the stone and the configuration of the prongs, in conjunction with positioning of the stone so that the inscription is visible. I''m sure on certain stones in certain settings, there is no way to accomplish both keeping the arrows from under the prongs, AND make the inscription visible.

Everyone keeps mentioning the ''turning of the arrows'' so they aren''t under the prongs.
A thought on that: I suspect the primary goal when setting the stone is to make sure the girdle inscription is visible.
I suspect that the reason the arrows were set slightly under the prongs on Mara''s last stone was the result of trying to make sure the inscription was visible.
It seems, though, that in this case, the inscription didn''t interfere with that placement, which is awesome.
