I went with the euro-shank because she really liked it, and I thought it looked different and interesting, without being "too different", if you can understand that.

A fire shot - unbelievably hard to capture with bulb light and the lens I am using, which is VERY resistant to flare (which is a good thing for 95% of photography, hah)

Sooo, today was the big day! We had a TON of laundry planned for today, but last night I suggested that we take a casual jaunt to Carmel-by-the-Sea, near Monterey, because we haven''t been getting out much on Sundays lately. My FI agreed, and this morning we set off for one of the most beautiful and romantic places on Earth, in my opinion. We did what we always do - and what we did almost 7 years ago on our first "serious, grown up" date (we were only 17 and 18!) - we took a drive on the 17 Mile Drive. One of the stops along the way is the Lone Cypress...

So we stood at this place where I, once upon a time 3-4 years or so ago engraved our initials in the railing that separated man (and woman) from the cliff below...

... and while my FI (GF at the time) was busy looking at the Lone Cypress, I got behind her and placed a small black box right in between her hands resting on the railing. Her face became stone-like, and I could see that she, a self-proclaimed-impossible-to-surprise person, was in shock. I asked her to turn towards me, and I got on one knee and said some, according to her, very sweet things to her in our native Russian language.

She said "YES!!" emphatically and we embraced for a good long while, really enjoying the moment. She said it was the most perfect proposal I could have come up with, as it was a very special place for both of us.

Here are some new ring shots, and some hand shots that didn''t turn out so great (she was a bit bloated, and her fingers look chubbier than they really are, heh).
