hi im in the process of ordering a ring as we speak, just wondering how long does fedex take? and what did you have to go through to get it through customs? (you gotta pay 15% right?) you got it sent prority international right?

Hi Slayt,
I will presume you''re an Australian from your questions!
it will be up to your vendor, but yeah usually they use FedEx Int priority. My ring was sent on July 2 and arrived the 8th, but this also involved over the weekend and a hold up in customs. I would give it 4 to 5 business days if everything goes smoothly.

With regards to the customs, FedEx does all of it for you, we don''t have to do anything except pay the Duty and GST.
Unfortunately, the taxes are not as easy as 15%.

Here is how they figure it out:
You will pay Duty of 5% on the value of the ring.

The GST will be calculated on the value of the ring, plus the duty, plus any shipping and insurance. (ie. total costs after entering australia).
You will pay 10% GST on whatever that total is.

There will also be an import/processing fee of about $50 or so.

There are a number of other threads with myself and others giving dollar examples of this breakdown, just search on "australian customs" or the like, but please ask if you don''t get my explanation.

I know it sounds a bit complex and expensive, but for me it was still way cheaper than buying the comparable item at home (if I could''ve even found the quality).

I believe if you''re leaving the country within a short time of the import, you can claim it back. but don''t quote me.
You will need to phone your local customs office for that one

I'm soooo stoked I got the yellow gold, it looks incredible imo.
The only dilemma I have now, is what to do with the pretty Rose gold mount that my exchange stone came out of...

Hey, I was up there too ^^, maybe you missed me.

Anyhoo, tips. Ok, in the early morning, and at sunset when the sun is lower, it''s sometimes easier to get them with the ring out of the box, laying down (but try in the box too, just experiment!). The sun will naturally catch the stone better if it''s low. During the day when it''s high, in the box is easier. Make sure it''s really clean. Then get the camera focused on it, and very slowly start moving around (side to side, keep the same distance if you can) until you see the stone light up. Sometimes the sun is so bright, it''s hard to see what you''ve got, it might just look like a white blob, or a line, or lines. Just shoot it anyway, because once you enlarge it, you never know what you might have. And you''ll get better at judging what will work after experimenting a bit. And that''s it! I can''t wait to see what you get, that stone is just gorgeous!!

hey mate just wondering if you had any dramas doing an international money transfer (or wire) i tried this arvo one said it isnt enough info ,however the commonwealth were going to but couldnt do it as there machines shut down at 3:45 but im not sure if they had enough details or not to make the transaction, the info i got and took in too the bank is what i was emailed from White flash

im getting extremely stressed out i need the ring by the 23rd of this month at the latest before i go overseas

and i dont think the ring would have even been put together yet

Hi this happend to me recently ( i am getting a ring made at Whiteflash) the first payment went through fine but the bank her in OZ wasnt happy for the second and said I didn''t have enough details!
So frustrating. Anyhoo I held my line and said that the detail Whiteflash gave me were correct and it went through.

hey again, yeah I know the whole wire territory seems to be foreign concept here.
I think it just depends on the teller you get, and try not to go in too late as it takes at least half an hour.
I just printed the instructions that WF gave me, but that said they did accidentally give me the incorrect details to start with. It was fine, I bank with Bankwest and the girl knew what she was doing.
If you're happy troubles just email your rep to clarify- if you email them now you should have a response by tomorrow then you try the wire again.
I can give you the details if you like, but I'd prefer you ask WF again first just incase

I'm sorry you're stressed about your deadline. I would also just politely tell this to my rep - you don't them rushing it, but just make them aware. They completed my ring a day early, I'm sure you'll be fine. Are you just having a stock standard setting made? have you decided yet?
