Its terrible...I'll still insist I am not 'into' jewelry. I swear, I am not. Ha! I love my stones though!
Before I go into the ring, I want to say THANKS to Davi for his awesome Chrysoberyl ring, which was my inspiration. Well, it was more than an inspiration---its almost a copy----but Davi's ring is AWESOME, loved it the second I saw it!
Anyways, I'd been looking for the perfect Chrome Tourmaline..medium-dark, nice saturation, with precision-cutting. I love Trillions. As soon as I saw the stone posted on Jeff Davie's eBay site, I bought it. It was more than co-incidence that I was able to find an amazing Chrome Tourmaline AND a trillion at the same time!
Jeff did great work as usual...I can't be happier with how it came out. He had a picture of Davi's ring to go by, and I told him that I wanted to change it to yellow gold and that I wanted Diamonds inserted into the 'points' of the cutouts. It came out looking different than Davi's, a little bit, as the stone is 9mm and Davi's stone is 6.5 I think? Thanks again Davi for having the perfect ring to copy
The band is a matte-finish, and only the prongs and the edges of the cutouts are shiny (Iike Davi's). I really like the color of the gold...the 18K yellow gold looks a lot different than my 10K yellow gold ring...its much darker/yellower. I had NO idea that you could actually spot differences in the color of different ct types of gold. I used to chuckle when I saw some posters saying "I can see it looking better in high-ct yellow gold" etc. I will NEVER chuckle again--it is a completely different color! haha!
As for the stone, its 9MM, 2.12ct. I own 6 Chrome Tourmalines, and this was by far the most expensive I've bought, and the brightest, and best-cut. It is a nice medium dark green indoors, with super bright green flash. Outdoors, it looks plugged in...all the darker areas you see indoors (which I like..it is not like half-half extinction, this stone is awesome IRL)..go away and the whole thing is a bright green. I've only been able to see this in brief moments, as ever since I got the ring its been glooomy outside.
I was going to wait until I could get some sunlight or at least decent daylight before posting the ring and pics, but I couldn't wait. Its already been two days. Ha ha ha. I am such a addict to the stones and to this website!
Sorry if you are all getting sick of me posting rings..I know its bad. I should only do one per year from now on...especially when I only wear one ring every day. Ill be wearing this one every day for a while. LOL. And I am VERY careful with my rings. I only wear them out, to work, etc. I take them off when I get home, so I am not doing anything like washing dishes (ouch!) with the ring on. So don't worry about the stone..I am a salesman for a living, not a construction worker--it will be OK. LOL
THANKS JEFF and Davi!!
