Perry, I'm so sorry for your loss. It's a very difficult thing to go through, regardless of the circumstance. I hope you find comfort in all the memories you have with him. I'm very glad that your family has stepped up to help, that makes things so much easier. You will be in my thoughts.

I understand, as I lost my own father, rather suddenly, this August.

It helped me tremendously to write out a heartfelt eulogy which was read at Dad's memorial service. It's a great way to remind yourself of what he meant to you, what he taught you, and to share the best parts of him with others.

Mom is doing well. One of my siblings who hadn't helped much over the last decade came out of the woodwork and spent two days with his wife and did a lot of work at the apartment. Its been cleaned and most of dad's stuff has been removed (with my mom's permission). The clothing is being donated to charity.

The memorial service is set for Sat Jan 8.

I have not yet experienced the loss of a parent, so I can't say I know how you feel, but I always find that the hardest part of death is acknowledging the passing of time. I'm glad that you seem to be handling this well, and that you cherish your memories.
