I've been dying to post my rings

I've been lurking around here for several months as I tried to determine what I wanted out of a mothers ring that I've been dreaming of. I have two 1/5ct diamonds (old earrings) that I wanted to set with my daughters' birth stone (topaz), but my e-ring is already a three stone with a ruby, so I needed inspiration!

Here's what I ended up putting together. Disclaimer: These are all iPhone pics and are just terrible, but I hope you can see past that!

And I chew my nails at 31 years old. I don't want to talk about it.

And, just for fun, here's my wedding set:

I have never taken a good picture of it (which breaks my heart!) but it's gorgeous. I think the diamonds are quarters and I don't have a clue about the ruby (I am in dire need of appraisals). The ruby is the deepest red (always photographs too pink) and has great saturation. Only in direct sunlight or flashes does it cloud up and draw pink.

And here's my tourmaline. I bought this ring for myself as my "class ring" when I graduated from college. I adore it, but it's prominent mounting hasn't been kind to my stone. It needs a good polishing. Still love it!

What a great collection!! Thank you for sharing it with us (not only is it luscious eye candy, I always love ideas for three stones with colored stone centers.) Congrats on the twins!

Aw, thanks so much. They're 3.5 now and rule my life. I wanted to reward myself for surviving this wild ride and I'm so happy with how I did it.

I never identified myself as a gemstone girl (I sold jewelry at mall-jewelers throughout college (and then bought my "class ring" and e-ring from a boutique jeweler because I knew I was shilling dredge!!)) but I find that gemstones are exactly what I end up spending my money on. I have my few diamonds (earrings, pendants) but I loooove buying some rich, saturated colors!

Ahem. We're going to need some more pics.

(Almost all of my pics nowadays are from the iphone!)

Besides these three rings, I only have a sapphire (it's very dark and very grey, but I love grey undertones) and a diamond band. I'll gladly take more pictures tomorrow, though! I recently sold and gifted some rings that I'd bought over the years (a lighter topaz, an aquamarine that I had buyer's remorse over the day after I bought it, some amethyst- nothing of much value or originality). I've enjoyed allowing my tastes to evolve and whittling down my collection to the things I love.

So I don't want to presume - is that a topaz in your daughters' Mother's ring? It looks so mysterious, almost like an unheated teal sapphire, so I wasn't sure! Whatever it is, it is very pretty. It might be a three stone with diamond sides, but there the similarity ends between your ering and your Mama's ring. They are both lovely but very different. In fact, I love how different each of your rings is!

Congrats and welcome, by the way!

Great rings! I'm curious too as to what the stone is in the mother's ring. I love it & the setting is super too, good use of your earrings! Your 3-stone ruby is also lovely. Amazing how colored stones loving creeps up & grabs you, isn't it? Before you know it, you're hooked -- and there isn't any rehab for the problem (thank goodness!).

It's a topaz! It's a 7mm with some really pretty green hints that I can't seem to photograph. I'll snap some pictures outside when the rain clears. I'll keep practicing my iPhone technique. ;)

Beautiful rings!! I also like gray modifiers, so I love the colour of your blue/green topaz and really love the halo surrounding the 3 stones plus the split shank - its a fantastic setting!

Your tourmaline has the pink/orange of a pad!

Hi,

I love the color of the ruby. I have one that color but its pretty opaquey-semi-translucent, but I love it. You have done a nice job with your rings. Thanks for posting.

I, too, like some gray in colors. Now if someone dares to say that some brown is ok, we'll be in business. Did anyone notice the stone in Rockdiamonds avatar?

Annette

You had me at ruby.... What a beautiful collection!

Beautiful collection of which I hope you'll share more. iPhone pics are all I use these days and once you get the hang of it, it takes surprisingly good pictures.

Beautiful rings! The mother's ring setting made me wanting a three stone ring, do you mind sharing where did you get it from?

Really lovely rings!

Sorry to have gone missing! We had our annual family vacation last week and I'm just getting back into the swing of things.

I actually got my mounting off ebay! I'm pretty thrilled with the quality considering the price point (<$400).

In the week leading up to my trip, I was finalizing some work on rings for my mom, sister, and cousin. We had my Grandmother's wedding set taken apart and made into three rings- two included gemstones! So I'm going to share those, too.

image_25.jpg This one is my mom's (recognize the mounting?). I had grandma's diamond mounted with two london blue topaz (also her birthstone).

image_1_2.jpg This one is my sister's. They took grandma's engagement ring and removed the head. They cut the band and set a basket head into it with an alexandrite (her birth stone).

The third ring was grandma's wedding band that we had resized for my cousin.

Those rings were incredibly sentimental to have made. Those are the only pictures I have, though, as I gifted them while on vacation. I snapped pictures in my car on our way to the beach! Thought of y'all at the last minute. ;)

THEN, I'm having this tanzanite ring made for my sister as a birthday gift. I set the stone on top of the mounting for pictures and will repost when it's back from the jeweler. :)

Eep! Terrible pictures! Sorry, folks! I didn't even realize how poor they are until I saw them so BIG!

My name is deskjockey, and I like some brown. (actually have my eye on a topaz, and a mali garnet that seem to have significant amounts of brown, haha)

Anyway these rings are just beautiful :) LOVE the wedding set, especially!

Wow, your rings are beautiful! I love your wedding set!
