My hubby left the final decision to me, but he was really into giving input about my idea of getting a colored gem for my birthday. Funny, he doesn't get interested about diamonds as much. But he really likes the color and stone choices.

I haven't received them yet, but I've chosen two stones from Daniel Stair at www.customgemstones.com. Both rounds, they are a .81 ctw purple/blue spinel that's 6.03mm and an olive green tourmaline that's 2.94 ctw and 8.9mm. I'm so excited! They look beautiful! Daniel is great in responding to emails, does beautiful work, and has great prices.

Here are my pictures! This is the purple/blue spinel. YUM!

And the tourmaline... It is a gorgeous olive tone and is absolutely awesome.

Here''s the color he describes it as:
STONE: Tourmaline
WEIGHT: 2.94 Cts.
CUT: Modified Round Brilliant
DIMENSIONS: 8.9 mm
ORIGIN: Nigeria
COLOR: Green
CLARITY: Very Good++ (Nearly Flawless under 10x Magnification)
COMMENTS: This is a very slightly olive toned green stone in daylight shifting to more of an olive green under incandescent light. It has very good brilliance and light return.

While I like the deep saturation of some stones, I''m particularly taken by the beauty of this lighter appearance. It''s appears humble because it doesn''t realize it''s a true beauty!

Yummy stones, they are both gorgeous!

THANKS!

The stones were beautiful, but in the end, I decided to return them. I''ve got something else in the works, and I''ll keep you posted if it turns out like I hope.

They''re GORGEOUS! I love the color and especially the cut on both.
