Jade ring purchased on Esty. Does it look bleached?

Oh! I should've known that it came from that seller, they seem to sell natural pieces but I personally believe to find their prices alittle too good to be true especially with some vibrantly green pieces costing at a significantly lower price than market value. But there's also an option for them to have it certified by HKJSL which are just as reputable as GIA with stone identification.

I fully missed that when making my purchase or I would’ve gotten the certificate for sure. The seller has been extremely responsive and has grade A customer service without a doubt. They didn’t hesitate to offer me a refund if I wanted to go that way either. I raised my concern with them that comparable pieces of Jade to theirs cost significantly more from other sellers.

I don’t want to wear the ring if it’s bleached but at the same time I don’t want to pay $100 to get it tested if if costs $150. The seller strongly defends their stance that the piece is natural.

I totally understand your view and situation. I'd still stand by my point that it may be natural, but other users say otherwise so I'm still not entirely sure. If it can help, do visit Mason Kay's Jade Testing & Value Estimation & Service Fees, they have an option to do a physical report for $90 or give you an emailed report for $50.

Mason Kay is also up there for reputable sellers + testers since their main focus is always jade. But I don't really recommend them cause their good items are too overpriced when I've seen similar quality + untreated going for less.

Unfortunately this won’t work as I’m in Canada and I think this is a U.S. based company. I found a small lab here doing a Google search that does appraisals and has good reviews on Google. I’ll give them a call tomorrow and find out if they can do it and for how much.

I must sound like a picky guy lol. Really tho I get attached to my pieces, and if I were to become attached to this ring and later find out it’s not what I thought it was I would be heartbroken.

This was one of their appraisals taken from Google.

Oof, no worries though. Also it's fine to be picky with your pieces, it's your money after all! Last thing we'd ever want happen is to find out the piece isn't at all what it says to be.
Best of luck getting a review in Gem Labs!

Thank you

I’ll make my departure now and relax and look at some jade pictures until my pieces arrive in the mail.

@MasterMkombo I think you'll definitely like this! I haven't asked her the price, but fellow buyers I know trusts her to sell untreated jadeite (yes she can also certify them ahead of time for you as well) :)

Thanks a bunch for this. In a matter of days I went from knowing 2 certified jade dealers to knowing much more than a handful thanks to all the help and info. This has been a good experience. I’m now here to stay!

@AJadecent Angle Just thought that I’d let you know. I called the gem lab here in Toronto to inquire if they do testing for Jade and they said they test everything except for Jade. Not good lol

Ouch! Any chance that other labs near you (if possible) test for jade? :confused2:

I looked up a few more and saved their numbers I’ll call them tomorrow. Called 3 of them today and none dealt with Jade. They’re just some haters

Oof. Fingers crossed you'll be able to find a lab that knows how to deal with jade then. =)2
