James Allen Refer a Friend Program - Beware

Just to share.

The James Allen refer to a program seems like a scam. The Amazon gift card code does not work. After informing JA about this, I was originally told that a manager handing the gift card department will be assisting me within 2 days.

After 2 days, there was no email. So I contacted JA again and explained the situation. But this time, I was told that: "We do not have any part in Amazon gift cards. The company we work with for the refer a friend program works directly with Amazon."

Keisha C told me follow up with Amazon myself but refused to verify whether the gift card code was provided me is correct or not. As this code was given to me by another JA virtual assistant, I just wanted to make sure I was not given someone's else gift card code by mistake.

However, she also refused to email the transcript after the chat ended.

Why am I not surprised?

So in the end, I had to email Amazon to ask why the code is not working. I wonder what Amazon will say to me.

Did you log into your amazon account and try to add the gift card code to your account?

Just to add, no email was sent after the referral was successful ( and that was in Dec last year). If my friend had not reminded me, I would have forgotten it long ago! Is there any expiry for the Amazon gift card?

Yes I did, the system said that the gift card code is invalid.
 
That is amazon.com, not amazon.sg. correct?
 
Think it's premature to be thinking you've been scammed. Do you live in the United States? If not, the problem may be that a gift card for amazon.com cannot be redeemed via your non-USA Amazon account. And with at least some countries' Amazon accounts, you need to enter the gift card code within 1 year of the date on which it was issued -- see, e.g.,

Scroll down towards the bottom of the Refer-A-Friend page
and you'll see that the program is "Powered by Talkable," which is an unrelated e-commerce marketing corporation:
So another possibility is that there was a Talkable glitch in December 2019.

Don't know whom at Amazon you emailed, but if you aren't a US resident, you might try using the Help contact info on both amazon.com and the Amazon site for your country. Let us know if one or the other has been able to shed light on this mystery.
 
That is amazon.com, not amazon.sg. correct?

I am not sure, will check with hubby since he shops at both.

*update* he tried both and both invalid code.

I have said that the James Allen refer to a friend program seems like a scam because of the unpleasant experience I went through.

(1) no email was sent

(2) even after explaining at length, the error my spouse has encountered (I just wanted to know if there is anything wrong with the code I have received), but JA refused to entertain me

(3) JA also firmly refused to verify the gift card code, even after I explained that they might have given me the wrong gift code (what if they have given me another customer's gift code?)

(4) JA refused to send a transcript of my chat even after I requested for the transcript 2 times

Why do I have to even post here to get help? :doh:

JA also made me feel that I am a fraud trying to scam them since they firmly insisted at first, that there is no such amazon gift code (what??).

Then after I mentioned it was supposed to be from the refer to a friend program, JA then told me that there is nothing they should at their end (huh?).
