I grabbed up this beauty in Jeff's last GemScoop frenzy...but was a bit concerned about the color change. I've never seen a CC stone in person. Thankfully Christmas came early for me this year, nestled securely in a USPS box on my front porch, so I didn't have to speculate for long.

And...it's AMAZING. I'm thrilled with it, absolutely in love. The facet pattern and light return are top notch and the polish is excellent. It really is an undeniably brilliant gem. And the color change I was a bit worried about? It's fascinating. I can sit in my living room with fluoro lighting on one side, incandescent on the other, and just rotate it back and forth, watching the color change back and forth. It has no orange or peach discernible to my eye, which is a positive for me. In incandescent/natural lighting, it varies between a rose pink and a very vibrant, bright pink. In fluoro lighting it turns into the most rich bronze color. Traipsing through my house, out the front, out the back, into my car, the local shops...I couldn't find a light source that produced a shade of color I don't absolutely love. :appl:

Setting ideas? I'd like it to be a ring, but past that I'm completely clueless and would love to hear everyone's suggestions. :))

Sorry for the average photos, they're just on my phone.

Yummy stone! love the CC and the cut - good selection there, justginger!!!

And sounds like you had a good FedEx experience. Right now, some of the other PSers are not having such luck. Glad it worked out for you!

Now --- lets see what you are going to do with this little pretty! :naughty:

I am not very good on the creativity/helpful setting suggestion side, but high praise for such a BEAUTIFUL choice!   Lucky woman, enjoy!!

I'm so glad you are happy with your purchase! It's a lovely stone, and it sounds as though the CC is one of the prettier ones. I'm warning you, though, buying from Jeff is addictive, because the combination of superb cutting and meticulous polish can spoil you!

For setting this stone, I would suggest yellow or perhaps rose gold and a prong setting. What kind of designs do you like, so we can post photos of suggestions?

I must be a pretty bad PSer because I don't even have a folder of inspiration settings to peruse. :nono: I do know that I would prefer for it to be a solitaire, and not TOO dainty. I'd like this to take the place of my engagement ring as an everyday wear item. I've found myself really banging my ring around lately, just being clumsy, and eventually it's going to bend. :(sad

So, something simple, feminine but not dainty, and without accent stones. And I do think yellow gold or rose gold would be best - they would complement the two different colors much better than a white metal.

Nice pics and pretty stone!

As someone who had a malaya in rose gold once, I would go with yellow gold instead. I ended up reusing the rose gold setting for a different stone, and I sold the malaya to someone that reset it in yellow gold, and it looked a million times better. I think it best compliments the color shift. Lovely stone, that photo in the flower is something else!

gorgeous! so happy that you are happy with it! I grabed the red spinel but sadly is going to return it, the cut is amazing and it sparks like crazy but I just couldn't bring myself to love the dark color =(

I LOVE IT!!

HI:

Very pretty--Merry Christmas!

cheers--Sharon

Fabulous :appl:

Whatever metal colour you decide on, go with a prong setting that is as open as possible to allow maximum light entry and return, to get the full effect of the colour change/shift.

What are the dimensions on the stone? My initial thought is unplated white gold for the setting.

Definitely a very good buy. Congratulations.
