Back rooms you say....

Has anyone heard about these or seen these? Back rooms where they keep all the pricier/ 'better' jewellery :naughty:

More importantly has anyway been in one.

Just curious...

Hmmm... I haven't heard of them nor been in one. I do know that at places like Tiffany & Co. if you want to see a pricier ring that you have to fork over a credit card and they show them to you in a private room (not on the sales floor). I guess that makes sense for security purposes, but I don't know if all places do something like that.

I have - the boston jewelry district, 333 washington, don't remember the floor, a back office with a huge safe and a ton of natural/fluorescent light.

I don't know how we made it back there, but after going back and forth with the vendors - i was directed to a wholesaler and ended up there. It was awesome.

That SOUNDS awesome Mico!

In my world, that's what heaven is. A huge vault filled with diamonds!

Sounds amazing, but I've never heard of anything like it! I guess I've never been to big enough jewelry stores? I'm more accustomed to telling them what I'm looking for, and them calling in stones from a supplier that fit my needs.. usually somewhere between 3-10 diamonds. I don't think they OWN the diamonds, they borrow them to see if I want them, and if I buy, they make some % of profit off the sale, me thinks.

A jewelry store w/ a vault must own all of those yummies! :o

Hmm. I wonder if you can lay em all out, dim the lights, and bring in a disco ball to flash lights around. That would be so fun!

I have never had that experience! They've taken me in a side room before (for a 2 ct Legacy - really, Tiff's?!?! That's hardly something that needs to be reserved for a private room when another store in the mall let me prance around with a 9ct ring on my hand with nothing more than a "Here you go,"), but I've never heard of them taking a CC number!
