We have part ownership in a place at the beach and we also go to a mountain resort every year as well. We are so busy that we can''t leave easily for 2-3 week trips. So our travels of less than 4 hours suit our lifestyle much more. And I have already been to Europe and China, so I don''t have such a strong desire to do those kinds of trips. I can''t even remember the last time I pulled out those pictures, but we love going to the beach and mountains and have so many fond memories of our kids growing up there.

But I fall into Widget''s category of ready to concentrate on the jewelry! I can catch the travel channel for a quick fix on travel with no jet lag!

Both, he he!!

Seriously, I'd do the travelling first. Jewellery can always wait. I didn't wear much jewellery at all, the only thing i wore was my Rolex watch (when I was finally able to afford it, that is), until I was in my thirties. My Mum gave me a diamond ring when I was 16 (the thing had huge black inclusions all over it, I loved it but didn't wear it as I really didn't have a thing for diamonds then). DH started the whole ugly addiction by buying me my e-ring, then diamond earrings and a row of pearls. After that, there was no stopping me! LOL. I travelled quite a bit, as much as my student part-time jobs allowed me to and then after that, I became a Chartered Accountant, or more specifically an Auditor particularly because I knew there'd be lots of travelling involved. Travelling is more fun when you're younger and have more energy and not tied down with kids (well, not in our case, but you know what I mean), mortgage, various other commitments, and then the whole work thing too (the more you climb up the career ladder, the less vacation time you have, despite what your actual annual leave is, as I have found out is the case particularly with DH). Anyway, you already have plenty of bling, Harriet and I am sure you'll acquire a lot more in yr lifetime. Travelling is so much more fun and memorable and really opens up yr world!

I was brought up by mad parents who thought trekking in the Himalayas at 7 was far more educational than school, and have lived in and visited so many countries that I started to long to put my clothes in a wardrobe and leave them there!

Once I finished University the travel bug bit again and I''m only back in the UK since 2003. Now I''m quite happy to do the odd vacation but the wanderlust is almost cured - though I did tell FI he can accept a job in any country he likes as I''m happy to move!

Jewellery is something I''ve barely started on though

I will agree that while I never got rich moving so much, I wouldn''t swap my memories or experiences for any of my friends 6 figure salaries!

travel,,
lets see pick up wifey2b, hit Long Island and visit Jon, then Florida to visit Richard S. and RD. then Texas to visit WF(note: bring bullet proof vest LOL) then Arizona to visit Gary then Oregon to visit Wink, Then SD to visit the badlands again then ND to visit relatives then surprise Neil in Denver, then home.

I like to travel... and then buy jewelry there!
My favorite pieces (other than my e-ring and wedding band) is my gold sea turtle pendant from Hawaii and my silver dolphin earrings from a Greek island! My goal is to have all my jewelry contain some sort of wonderful and meaningful memory!

Good idea!

I choose travel, but that is actually somewhat of a luxury for my husband and me at this time since we have two little children. We do go on regular mini-vacations, but haven''t done anything grand in years. We''ve just decided that it''s time to save up for somewhere BIG. . .not sure where yet. I really want to go to Tahiti, but that may be a few years down the road. . .in the mean time, lots of small vacations and occassional small jewelery will have to do
