LOL...it's ok- I emailed him...was just wondering if it was like 16 grand? 18 grand? 20 plus grand???

Mariam,

I do not think it should be a problem, but I can understand your jeweler not wanting to be liable for any damage. Either give him a waiver of liability and ask him to do it, or find another jeweler with a good reputation to do it.

Unless you live in a very small there should be some good jewelers in your area, one of whom will look at this as the exciting opportunity that it is. Let him set your stone and give him the URL of the website so that he can contact Mr. Horowitz to become the dealer in your area.

I think your risk is incredibly low, but even if you find a jeweler who agrees with you, he is unlikely to take that risk on a stone he did not sell.

Let me just say that you are going to be very pleasantly surprised. I do not believe it will quite reach your bottom range, but there could be problems getting the rough for a 1.91 if the rough will finish over two carats in another shape, so I could be off a little. For sure it will NOT reach the upper range of your guesses and more than that I can not say!

P.S. Note to self. DO NOT try to put smilies in while using Netscape, it really reeks to have to re enter in the entire post!

luv ya winkers!

I think it is odd that the diamond has AGS 0 proportions but is not being sold as ideal. Why don't you post the numbers so some of the experts here can give their opinion.

There is no ideal for any stone but rounds at this time.

How did I miss that octet setting in my search?!?! That is SO beautiful!!! I don't regret my choice (the W-prong by WF), but the octet is exactly what I was trying to describe to people when I first started my search for the perfect setting! I think I will DEFINITELY have to get a colored stone for my right hand set in the octet--LOVE IT!!!

Just got back from vacation (southern california/disneyland etc) saw the Jubilee thread and figured I would offer a response. Our jeweler had no concerns setting my wife's Jubilee. We went with double/split prongs on the corners. Each prong sits on the slight taper on each corner which protects the corners very well and accentuates the squareness of the cut.

Oh, and during our trip my wife got lots of long wide eyed looks at the Jubilee and compliments. We did not see one diamond that looked as nice. The lighting in the Disney rides and in decent restaurants really allows the Jubille to throw out some amazing colors.

I can't remember....did you ever post pictures of it? What type of setting is it? I'm in the process of buying a Jubilee from GOG and I'm still trying to decide on a setting.

Thanks;

Glad to hear you decided on a jubilee! Although I'm a princess lover (and buyer), I hope to acquire a jub of my own some day soon! Good choice!!!

OH ME TOO!!!! it's not that easy b/c supply isn't as great as other cuts...maybe this will change over time...I hope it does anyway..Like researcher, I'm a lover of all things princess..but that jubilee would sure be neat-o!

Another proud Jubilee owner here (the 1.79ct, SI2, J), courtesy of GOG. Pics and story forthcoming.

Unless you count the HOF Dream, which is Ideal in both Polish and Symmetry. Have any Jubilee's been sent to AGS, and if so, have they been rated ideal as well? I'm not pro-HOF, I'm just trying to get some perspective on how to compare the Dream to the Jubilee.

Cheers,

Tim

no, there is no ideal with regard to the dream...it's just another fancy, so the statement is correct!....polish and symmetry is the tip of the ideal iceberg.

p.s.....Wink is the man!

the funniest thing about the dream, is that if you do a search on their site...they are all very rectangular despite their pretty little square picture. I think it is laughable...

Rectangular? I think they take the measurement of one side and then the corner to corner measurement... Notice they put a dash between the measurements. I have seen Dreams and they are all square.

if this jubilee is .44c i dont know that i would put it in the octet stuller setting, thats way too much metal. that would be like what my original jeweler did with my regent, setting it in an 8 prong debeers setting for a .38c stone. very overwhelming and all you saw was metal. no one could even tell the shape of the stone!

i had it redone in a very thin 4 pronged basket. i would set a smaller stone like .44c into something with as little metal as possible and 4 prongs. get it insured after the fact and you should be fine. im amazed that a jeweler would not want to set a modified corner cut such as the jub, as wink notes it seems much safer than those shardlike thin corners of most princesses!
