Total impulse purchase here. The sun was setting by the time the mail got here, so hope to have more pics tomorrow. I am curious - what's the consensus on a fair price per carat on this type of sleepy, not quite "Mahenge" color spinel? Or is it Mahenge after all (it is from Tanzania). Apologies for my burned hand, lol, I had a run in with the oven this week.

It’s a delicious color! I think the sleepiness is part of its charm, but it should be priced lower than a Mahenge because of that. Maybe $200 per carat?

It's 8.7 x 6.8, not sure of depth. Thanks for the compliments, and as I suspected, this vendor's pricing is more than fair. It's the same guy who sold me my opalescent sapphire - GemmaxMontreal on Etsy. I would like to see him added to recommended vendors!

They were Ebay deals from other collectors from years ago when most people didn't pay as much attention to spinels. I love this particular color mix, and they just don't come around very often at a price that's affordable. So, if I can, I jump.

I do at some point. I have an idea but I haven't reached out to see if the artist will set an outside stone. Probably something with serpents.
