The dimensions are up thread. My phone is being weird or I'd copy them. Based on how similar it looks to the bn setting I bet its from BN.

ran it though that diamdb website and the difference between that stone and the gog one is about 12% it said.

I did get the certificate, and I listed the dimensions above. Thank you so very much for asking! And I appreciate all of your help as I am glad that I reached out instead of just keeping to myself. I am noticing per one of the comments the dimensions and It would appear that the .82 ct round actually has a bigger face then the one that I have currently chosen. I suppose I am one of those clueless men how fell victim to the 1ct mark. I suppose there is always a reason why a diamond is priced. I pretty much just want to make sure it is worth it. Especially if it means forever.

Here are the dimensions of the original picture posted. All of your input is much appreciated!

Table : %61
Depth: %68.5
Girdle: Slightly thick to Thick
Cutlet: None
Flour: Strong
Measurements 5.52x 5.37x 3.68
LxW : 1.03
Excellent Polish
Very Good Symmetry
J
Vs1
1.01

You cannot directly compare lengthxwidth of two different shapes.

But yes, a .8round would be roughly the same size as your cushion now, perhaps slightly bigger. More importantly it will have a better visual impact, which helps it look bigger.

Let me ask you a few things.

Do you want to keep this stone?

If you don't would you rather have a nice 1ct in a plain setting or a nice 70-80 ish stone in a blingy setting.

You sound like you want us to tell you its a fine stone, but I don't think most of us will tell you that. I do think you can get something amazing in your budget, but I don't think this is it.

I am not attached to this stone and I am color blind, so that's why I posted. Everyone I have shown it too says it is great but something does not seem right with it and you guys have confirmed that, if I cani am going for visual impact. What got me curious is I saw a .5 ct with more fire, so I knew something was wrong haha. Show me your ways !! So yeah something that can keep her gaze.

Not afraid to return it at all

The question is do you want to put most of the money into the diamond and get a larger stone with plain setting? Or smaller stone and fancier setting?

Well you were smart to post. And smart to question it before your return period.

Everyone will tell you its great in person.
1. Lots of people don't know what a great fancy cur diamond can look like.

2. Who's going to tell a guy his engagement ring isn't up to par?

Your budget can surely get you something you are proud of and she can't stop gazing at.

OK. What does visual impact mean to you? Your partner? You do not have to read very far on PS to know that means very different things to very different people. Define visual impact?

cheers--Sharon

The setting is pretty but I see alot of color in the stone even from a photograph. I prefer above J for an Ering.

Again thanks for all the honest replies!! That's what I really respect about the people here, genuine people! Thanks

I suppose I like contrast, I liked the cushion because it seemed like antique meets modern with the crushed ice. Is it possible to have deep contrast and all the glitter. Sorry I don't know all the technical terms. Scintillation?

You like the contrast of vintage setting and more modern cushion cut? Is that what you mean?
Or you like that you have a cushion which is a more antique shape but the faceting is more modern to give you that crushed ice look?

And are you asking if its possible to find a crushed ice cushion that performs well?

Crushed ice cushions and crushed ice radiants can look like little disco balls if that is what you like we can find you a better one because this one as the others have suggested is leaky meaning that it leaks light rather than reflecting it all back and so you see some darker patches and some less bright areas in the stone. A genuine Vintage cushion that shape might be another option and it would suit that setting.

I think it's a really pretty setting but its a below average cushion.

I believe the setting is from BN. So if the cushion goes back so does the setting. And I would not try to but a crushed ice cushion from blue Nile. I'm sure you wouldn't either. It seems like LOTS of trial and error.

No I meant keep the setting or find another setting that is similar and find a cushion from GOG, or DBL if it is a modern one or a genuine Antique one from JBG, LAD or OWD or indeed from places like James Allen or Ebay.

Blue Nile probably would sell him that style of setting in any size so we could find a stone from anywhere to go into it.

See problem is last I checked BN will not sell a setting only.

Oh, I thought they did, maybe the Aussie one is different to yours. No idea. In that case they do have some decent rounds, and some Signature cushions that will be more expensive but much better looking IMHO. Otherwise I agree it's a matter of finding another similar setting and a nice stone to go with it.

According to BN's web site, "many" of their settings may be purchased without also buying the center stone from them, but there are some wide-ranging exclusions -- see the 4th FAQ under the Diamonds & Diamond Jewelry heading on this page:

Dudebassoon, I would encourage you to visit a high-end jewelry store near you with a decent selection. See for yourself what you do or do not like (and maybe bring your fiance). I think there is no substitute for seeing something in person.

So what do you guys think of the Hearts and Arrows cushions? I could do a .74 H vs1 with an excellent gcal brilliance rating in the same setting. for about a $200.00 difference.

That would be beautiful. And you're certain you don't want a round?

They are usually quite lovely! Are you buying from the same vendor as the other ring--have they found you a different stone?

cheers--Sharon

The ring is from blue Nile.

If both of you like the look (the sparkle is very beautiful but different from the glitter effect of crushed ice cushions), it is a winner.

I think it's a great idea!

I was wrong on the color, it is an I. I am not opposed to a round, she had mentioned that she like the square versions a little more then the round. Thank you all for your help and advice, as well as stopping me from making a mistake!

If she prefers square get her the cushion. Being a hearts and arrows I'd be comfortable with that color in that size.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the difference in sparkle
