First, many thanks for all who have helped me along the way. My diamond from b2c is arriving tomorrow!
So.... What should I do next? I plan to take it to an appraiser before having it set.
Any advice on how to approach the appraisal so I
Avoid the inflated insurance appraisal?
I'm also wondering if people have opinions on buying a diamond and having it set elsewhere.
It seems to me it'd be so much easier for me to send it backto b2c to set.

Which leads me to my next question. The twisted rope setting that my gf likes
Is 2.5 mm thick at b2c. Do y'all think this is too wide for a .77 ct diamond?
I know she prefers a dainty looking ring. So do I.
Would you advise me to have it set at a place that provides the same look in a
2.2 mm setting?

Thanks again for all your help!

Setting is fine.

Have the appraiser (independent, a jewelry store appraiser might bash the diamond hoping you'll return it and buy from them) just make notes, no final document until you take it BACK after setting. And yes, if B2C is going to set it (preferred) then you don't need to insure it as they should cover it.

Thanks Gypsy. Ill be sure to take it to an independent.

Also, you really think the 2.5 mm will still have a dainty look?

And I just got the diamond. Looks great, compared to what I was looking at in local shops it appears I got a great value.

Dainty? No, but my definition of dainty includes the appearance of fragility. But it will look feminine and secure. She picked the setting herself, I think you are doing the right thing getting it for her.

Congratulations on your purchase and your coming engagement! :wavey:
