19cquest, I sympathise with your quandary. and can understand why folks here can''t see the problem you are seeing, because it is very difficult to photograph colour in a diamond.

And as has been mentioned, some people are more colour sensative than others, and while i find it difficult to see the differences in colour in my wife''s F colour e-ring, and the G/H colour earings. But thats not to say you would be able to.
There isnt much in shade difference between the grades, From your inital postings i thought you had gone for a I or J colour stone, with F/G melee... so was suprised to read that the centre is a H. (i didnt click on the link to the stone details initally)

I dont think you''ll see much change in colour difference between a G and a H, but equally, if you have doubts with the stone, i dont think you will be able to dispell them easily - maybe give the stone a bit more of a chance - view the stone in lots of different lighting conditions - it has been asked before about a diamond appearing dark in bright sunlight - which is a natural thing, and more todo with your eyes, than it is the diamond.

You''ve already spoken with Brian, so he''s aware your not happy, and i''m sure they''ll work with you to find a stone you will be happy with. Tho as a suggestion that with the differences between colour grades being very slight, you may consider looking at F colour stones too

I think you must be a color sensitive person. With that said, G might not even be white enough for you. I''d look for an F, or a G with medium blue fluor.

I can picture what you are seeing, if your sidestones are F and the center is that big and an H, especially lower, H bordering in I color. I have an 1.35ct F from GOG and a 1ct+ H from elsewhere, and that H looks tinted beside the F. I even see a slight body tint in the F, viewed from the side, compared to viewed face-up. My H unmounted an face down looks hideously brown to me. Color sensitivity is something I somehow acquired. Even 5 years ago, I thought that H/I/J looked bright white.

I see what you''re saying in those photos some definitely have a yellow cast. I have an H center stone and F/G side stones in a channel set band and they all look white to me in all lighting, I''m pretty color sensitive and I''ve never seen a hint of yellow. I think perhaps this diamond just has more of a yellow tint to it. I did see some I stones that had a definite yellow cast to my eye in person, so perhaps with the H stones its the same way depending on the stone. I would go with maybe a F/G but not so white that the side stones were overshadowed?

have you had ideal cut diamonds before? if not, are you concerened that your diamond "arrows" shows up dark? when you refer to dark... Im just wondering if this is what you are talking about? it looks like a beautiful diamond.

Thank you for all the comments everyone... I''m going to talk to BG today and see what they say and recommend.

By dark I was referring to the shading of yellow only, not the H&A.

Just talked to Lesley.

She pretty much told me what you guys did and said perhaps I''m just more color sensitive or slightly over reacting, etc... which I''m not at all denying. If I were to get another stone I''d love to get it from them because of their customer service and policies to support their products but they don''t offer the same policies on any of their stones but their signature in-house stones, which is understandable. I still don''t know whether I will be keeping the stone or returning it to have the diamond removed and the setting shipped back (I for sure have no doubts on the setting).

Either way, thank you all for your opinions and suggestions!
I plan on making a decision by Thursday so I''ll let you all know the conclusion once it''s made.

I'm going to go look at a stone in downtown San Diego...
I'm going to be taking the potential stone and my ring to an independent appraiser to verify that the new stone is at least of the same cut quality.

But before I do so, wanted to get everyone's opinion on its cert.

Also, I think mine may be a borderline H/I and I''ve been reading that GIA may be more strict on color. ie: AGS(H) may equal GIA(I)...
