just ordered this K diamond...thoughts!!!

Beautiful upgrade. Congratulations!

Well unfortunately the cut is not really the best. It is more of a 60/60 stone. 60/60 stones will look more white than a more ideal cut stone, because they usually show more brilliance/white light than fire and colored light. Is cut important to you, or are you most interested in size? All that said, it does look really pretty in the video.

i was under the impression from my research that a 60/60 was a good cut. was i completely wrong! :( yes i was trying to find the best looking, largest carat size in my price range. the cut was most important to me and this was listed as an "ideal" i was willing to sacrafice a little on the color which is why i went K.

60/60 can be a good cut. There have been multiple threads discussing this and certain people have preferences one way or the other. That said, it's GIA XXX with 1.4 HCA so it's great on paper. See if you like it when you get it home.

There's nothing really wrong with a 60/6o cut, but it's not for everyone. A lot of PSers don't like it. But it's YOUR diamond and if you have seen it and find its performance to your liking, then that's all that matters. =)

ETA: What would concern me is the feather. Make sure it doesn't break the surface, because then you could have durability issues.

I think it's lovely! Congrats on your upgrade! I also ordered a 60/60 type diamond for my upgrade, which I'll be getting soon (59% table technically, but pretty similar to your diamond's proportions). The last time I was buying diamonds, I first ordered a 60/60 type diamond, but had to return it because it wasn't eye clean. The replacement diamond had a smaller table and was eye clean. Both diamonds were excellent cuts (GIA XXX), about the same size/diameter, and performed well on the HCA tool. Having seen and worn both diamonds in person, I actually would have preferred the look of the first 60/60 diamond if hadn't had the visible inclusion. So this time for my upgrade, I didn't worry so much about the table size, as long as it was an excellent cut and eye clean.

I know there are supposed to be larger flashes of fire with smaller tables, but remember that 60/60 diamonds were popular for a long time, and for a reason. They're lovely, too. Fashions come and go with everything, even diamonds (color, table size, fluorescence, etc.). Don't worry about it, and enjoy your gorgeous diamond!

i appreciate all the replies and input!

i have not seen it in person but with james allen i have 60 days to return with no worries. also i am aware of the feather but james allen assured it is not a problem and their diamonds are also lifetime guarantee so that makes me feel that if anything went wrong i can be rest assured. i cant wait to see it in person and in my new setting... and will keep you all posted on what i think in a few weeks!
