Just Purchased My Dream Emerald-Cut Blue Sapphire

@lilmosun thank you so much! ❤️

@sparkle_snail Aww thank you! That is very sweet to say & might I add that I too enjoy watching my collection grow :dance:haha

& You know what, it's on my to do list but I just haven't yet!

When I joined PS I knew quite a bit about gemstones and rocks but more about identification and less about fine gems and treatments, quality, etc...so now that I know what I know my educated guess would be that it's indeed an antique synthetic sapphire as it has that tell-all curved color banding that is usually a good sign of synthetic.

It's set in platinum with natural diamonds and it's very sentimental to me as I grew up watching my mother wear it so it'll be my one synthetic piece of jewelry

@SomethingNew Thank you very much! It does have a very classic feel about it!

@Hivona Aww thank you! I've admired his work for a while now, so I'm elated to be able to purchase this gorgeous little sapphire. & I'm totally drawn to every CS emerald that's well cut but it's hard for me to find an emerald cut diamond that I salivate just as easily for!

@peacechick Oh wow, the imagery you created in my mind with your words is lovely! Blue sapphire dreams! I'm going to use that, Planes of blue light that lead into another dimension!

@Adam95 Thank you for the suggestion but I'm afraid that voces idea is very "voce" and not very "me" if you know what I mean. She usually incorporates multiple colored stones Into her pieces which look like works of art where as I am drawn to more clean, simple, or classic designs.

Maybe one day I'll live wildly and make the jump to something unexpected but I feel as though this sapphire is begging to be a solitaire or accompanied by one kind of accent stone! ;)2

I'm not sure how I'm supposed to feel about this assessment, but wow, I feel not flattered, more like I was typecast.

I myself would not set limits on what is or is not my style, but a quick look into the 54 slots jewelry box shows me that I have 13 solitaires, 7 CS set in a simple white diamond halo, 1 CS set in a yellow diamond halo, and only 6 that have more than 2 colors, and that's counting white as a color. Just based on what's in my jewelry box, I don't think that assessment of over the top, multiple CS is really an accurate representation of my style or collection. I'm just a person who likes variety so I'm hurt that you think your style and my style are mutually exclusive instead of being more like Venn diagrams that have a small area of overlap.

Aww voce, I'm sorry my reply to the other poster upset you. I can truly say without a doubt that that was not my intention nor did I reply or talk about my perceived view of your taste In bad light whatsoever. While I personally see a common denominator in your collection which is beautifully designed pieces full of color Im sad that you felt I deduced your collection or you in a sense. I was not trying to put you into a box, but trying to describe that you indeed think & play outside of it while I am drawn to designs that are more simple and classic.

Again, I'm very sorry that my words made you upset and I hope you know that I adore your collection and presence here on PS. Sometimes I wish tone could be perceived here, but alas text does not allow for it.

❤️

P.s. I would never describe your pieces as "over the top" but instead I described them as "works of art". I'm sorry the tone in my description made you feel otherwise but I do feel like we do have different styles, not one above or better than the other, just different.

Total random aside here, but voce, do you have your own thread where you talk about your beautiful collection? I would love to admire your lovely rings up close!

Gorgeous sapphire and color @Garnetgirl !
There is something so refined and classic about an emerald cut sapphire!! An Art Deco style setting would be amazing! Good luck with your design!

Awwwe thank you Bluemuse (love the name btw!) & You are right, there is something so classic about the cut. I'm leaning towards a solitaire despite how special it would be to make a ring inspired by my mothers beloved gift!

I think the color will make a beautiful statement all by itself as a solitaire!
Can’t wait to see how it comes together!
I do consider my gems, my muses, lol
Might be true for all of us:)

Thank you! Yes, our gems are our little pick-me-ups on rough days or days we need a bit of inspiration. Gazing into colored stones is definitely one of my hobbies & is just overall so soothing! Sometimes a brighter color, such as an orange spessartite garnet can even be energizing or stimulating!

Absolutely! Endlessly fascinated by them!

So I'm really digging the claw placement & component from these CVB rings. I'm thinking of using that idea and having a bezel and four decorative claws but setting it vertically with an ornate cutout on the gallery and a cast engraving on the band.

It's hard because it's so beautiful and my brain wants to set it like I plan to set my unoiled emerald but I need to make sure they're different enough! I just really dig those center claws on chubbier shaped emerald CS! Oh & I'll either use 18k yg or 14k rg for the ring but I'm waiting until it's in my hands!

The CVB rings are gorgeous! I think part of why the aesthetic works is cos the workmanship is so good. Just looking at the milgrain and claws makes me happy.

You are definitely right! I'm going to have to adapt the claws a bit to make sure it fits my jewelers style best! I'm still not sure on any one setting though 100%! For me seeing the stone in person will determine it's setting!

Just purchased this sapphire from Daniel O'Neil, whom of which I've admired the work of for quite a while!

He had just posted it only an hour or so on his IG when I messaged him inquiring it's price (which I assumed would be way way out of my range but somehow it was not) & I became even more elated with it's details posted below.

In my mind my collection of colored stones and diamonds will never truly be finished as I keep discovering new gemstones. My goal is make my way through selling my older preloved pieces to owning my dream stone in its dream setting for every gemstone I adore.

This blue sapphire is definitely as good as it gets for me personally when considering my budget and that emerald cut shape. This doesn't mean my blue sapphire dreams are finished, just as far as emerald shapes go it is! ;)2

For my ideal CS it seems as though I prefer them in the 1.5-2.5ct range as some face up smaller, which is definitely true for sapphire! That size also looks the most tasteful on my hand.

Anyways enough of my excited blabber & onto the details & pictures!

Oh also help me decide on a setting that would suit it! I'm thinking either an 18k yg solitaire with intricate engraving/cutouts along the gallery and center-set claws OR bezeled three stone with two 4mm old cut diamonds but it'll be a few months before that happens.

I know color designations are shotty at best & are very subjective but what would you call this color?

Onto the picture that got me!
