Hi,
That earring shot of your studs looks just like my ear (minues the beautiful huge studs). But the row of 3 holes up the ear and my other ear has 2 holes.

We had corresponded on that other post about closing up holes. I''m about your age and also regret the extra holes!

Can you tell me a bit about the procedure you are having? Do you mind if I ask how much it will cost?

Will it get rid of the holes completely? And how long is healing time? Will it scar?

I hope you don''t mind my questions, but I know you have been posting about the procedure and I have the same exact problem as you!

I am going to have new studs as well I want to show off without the other holes.

Just the other day, my beautiful 7 year old out of the blue told me that the extra holes in my ear look ugly (I was wearing sappire studs at the time so the top 2 holes were empty.) Gee, thanks sweeite

I look forward to hearing your details!

Oh and will they leave your first holes alone or close everything?

Asscherisme,
Oh-I JUST noticed this thread-sorry for long delay in responding! Well, at the risk of sounding stupid, I am not completely sure how he is going to do the procedure. He was honest in that he had done large repairs before, but not something like this. He said he would do a small linear incision and sew it closed and it would end up looking like a little line or a wrinkle. He was hesitant to do all the holes at once, wanting to do just one at first to see how it healed and if I liked it.

I had googled for a price and came up with about $400 per hole for a large repair, in Atlanta. So I was prepared and expected the worst. I appreciated his honesty-(re: we would just have to see how it healed) He told me that it would cost $400 per hole in Atlanta (he offered this info, I didn''t tell him I''d googled) but he would only charge me $100 per hole. (I live a bit outside Atl) There is some history here though in that I have worked with his children before in our school, so we knew each other. In my mind, $400 for all 4 holes to be closed up is worth it to me.

I am SO TIRED of seeing myself in the mirror or in pictures and immediately thinking how awful the holes look. To me, they speak impulsive, young, trashy (kind of a strong word there, but I have to say what''s on my mind)...and I KNOW there are people out there who just LOVE their holes-this is just how I feel at this point in my life. The procedure is going to take 45 minutes and he gave me a prescription for an antibiotic to take for after. I forgot how long he said it would take to heal. I expect in the vicinity of 6 weeks. I am hoping it heals into a little line and then I can schedule for all the rest to be done at once. I''d be happy with a little line.
We are headed to the beach for a little break immediately following the procedure--I know I probably can''t get it wet so I''ll just sit and read (suits me fine). I''ll have to catch you up on the details when we get back sometime Saturday! Thanks for your interest--I figure, why just exist with something that bothers the heck out of me-I had to do something about it. I''m kind of proud of myself for doing it.

Oh, and to add- the first original holes are being left. I just want one set in my head.
...and aren''t kids great? My daughter is always quick to tell me if my hair is out of line... just tonight she told me she was going to try her straightening iron on me.

I hope it goes well! The price sounds VERY reasonable to me.

Please post updates after you get the procedure done!

And I feel EXACTLY the same way you do. I did it my freshman year in college, 1987, and I started regretting it the year I graduated. I wear my hair back a lot and feel embarrased by them.

I feel like spending so much money on diamond studs only to have attention drawn to the holes

Like I ruined my ears doing something trendy and impuslive.

Kinda like tatoos. I know some people love them but I''m thankful I never went down that route.

Exactly, !! I feel like I have this big billboard with these earrings, that points to the holes!
I saw this woman the other day at the mall and I kid you not, she had honkin rocks in all three of her sets of holes! She looked like the kind of gal that would have real ones, too. I thought, that''s just overkill-kinda had the opposite affect I''m sure she intended!

Julia,
How did it go? Wasn''t your procedure this week?

I know I''m too involved in pricescope when I was looking at my makeup in the rear view mirror at my children''s camp pick up line and while catching my row of ear holes, I think I wonder how Julia''s surgery went. And I never even met you LOL.

I hope it went well!

Julia I was thinking about you too and hoping everything went well.

Assherisme and Sundial,
Thanks for checking on me. It was so nice to see these messages in my box.
Well, we just (like 15 mins ago!) got back from a relaxing bit of time in St. Augustine. I have to fill you in on what''s going on..the dr''s office called Tuesday as I was running around like crazy, trying to get in all my errands before going over there..they were confirming the appt for Thursday--I said THURSDAY? OH NO. NNOOO..How did I do that? I apologized profusely, saying I was sure it was Tuesday. We had planned on leaving immediately after the surgery for Florida. They were very very nice and offered to put me in a time slot on Monday. So the saga continues and the appt is now Monday. I wonder if that wasn''t a blessing in disguise because we were in the sand and ocean and slathered in sun block or on a camp site and I already have an aching back from sleeping on the ground ...probably not a good idea to have any other aches and pains at the time... But, salt water is supposed to be antibacterial, right? Oh well, we had a relaxing time. My batteries are recharged and I''m ready to get this show on the road.

Thanks for the update Julia and please let us know how it goes for you.
