Yes. Jeweler just came back with a new oval that is longer in length -- says it is a prettier, more crisp oval than the first option. All the stones in question have full GIA certs (not just color origin). I''ll upload a picture of the 2nd oval in question now.

I like the radiant and the smaller cushion. I can''t wait to see what you choose!

New option on the table! Another oval reccommended by the jeweler. Specs:
1.25 carats, VS1

8.38x5.68x3.60 mm
Depth 63.4
Table 55

SanDiegoLady and Iluvcarats -- my honey says I can''t go wrong but somehow my tummy is all tied up in knots!

While you''re here -- I''d love to hear everyone''s setting suggestions. What would you do with a yellow oval? What would you do with a yellow radiant? Stepcutnut had a beautiful suggestion. Let''s hear more, and if you have pix, let''s see those too! :) Who''s ever heard of a PSer turning down more eye candy? :D

Holy crap! They are all gorgeous! I think I adore the oval and the cushion the MOST.

PLEASE let us know what you get and how you are going to set it!!!

Ack! Just when I thought I had a stone all picked out -- another vendor, who specializes in ideal cut stones, just told me that he has a bunch of stones he wants me to consider and to please hold off on a decision until I''ve seen his stones.

Hold onto your hats, my friends! it''s going to be an even longer ride than I anticipated!

Im buckled in, Kimiko - ahm ready for dah ride!

What a delicious and fun dilemma to have :-)

As far as settings go, I really like yellow diamonds with either a white halo or white sidestones, to showcase the color! For a radiant I would probably do white radiants, baguettes or trillions for side stones. For the oval, definitely pear sidestones. Both would look great in a halo as well. I like the Leons you posted with the halos the best.

I can''t wait to see the rest of the diamonds the other vendor has for you! And if it''s between the old or new oval and the first radiant, I still like the radiant the best!

Can you guess who cut these stones?

Hi Grace!

I am having so much fun! This project has turned out to be part design school, part gemology school, and just a whole lotta eye candy! :) Thanks for allowing me to share this experience with you...

Thing2of2 --

I will definitely incorporate white sidestones or halos to punch up the color. It seems like angles work best with angles, and ovals seem like they want company -- haloes or sidestones.

I''m really excited to see what this 2nd vendor has to offer. :)

I think a lot of people are drawn to the sharpness and clean lines of the radiant. The first oval is definitely a lot less crisp than the second. If you examine the 2nd from the side, it looks a little bit off-symmetry.

I really love that radiant, although I do like the idea an oval best. It''s more on par with the inspiration! Is that second oval really off on symmetry? That would be my pick if not.

That radiant is super pretty. Like all radiants it is more compact, though not too deep.

The vendor pointed out that dollar for dollar, the oval is the best value. I can''t believe it is 30% more stone and only about 8% more in price.

It is a "Good" for symmetry and not a VG, but I don''t know enough about that to say if it is "really off." I wonder if anyone would know? Maybe I''ll try posting that question on Rocky Talky...

Hello friends,

I have been in correspondence with 8 star, about potentially purchasing a fancy colored stone from them. I am trying to figure out if their stones come at a much higher premium than the "standard" fancy colored diamond, and if it would be worthwhile to buy from 8 star instead of going the conventional route. They emailed me a photo of a 0.85, ungraded fancy light yellow/brown/green square radiant. It does show the trademark 8 star arrows. I am not sure if it would be alright to disclose the price, but I will say that there is a bit of a premium associated with the stone (it is more expensive than fancy yellows of a comparable carat weight). No dimensions yet. It is wonderfully crisp in the photo and has a great geometry.

Should this stone be in the game?

I am also not sure if it is OK with the vendor to post pix.

Any advice would be wonderful!

The oval and the radiant look like they have a little brown in them, unless it''s my computer monitor or the lighting. The cushion looks to be more of a pure yellow.

The vendor says it''s just my monitor, but I wondered about that too...

This project is really not as easy as it would seem... I am wondering if I would be better off buying from a B&M...though the premiums are so high...

Oh Kimiko, honey, you sound so...exhausted with the process?

Hi Grace!

I am exhausted! :) Want to see the diamond? I can email it to you -- but I''m leery of posting it on the forum -- I worry that the eight star people will somehow find me on the forum and, I don''t know, forbid me from purchasing their stones ;) Am I nuts?

Thank you for the sweet words.

Hmm...antique diamond... *looks around* A girl does have a need for many, many shiny things. Well, the fancy yellow is a "5 year anniversary" project and technically our 5 year anniversary isn''t until next February/March, so I will just keep looking -- I still like that big ol'' oval I posted above so I''m thinking of revisiting that option, but I don''t want to buy anything that doesn''t just "sing."

I saw your latest e-newsletter, and you have definitely picked up some winners :)

Hi Kimi,

Why, thanks! I love those "new" old pieces, if I may say so myself.

I''d love to see pics - if only so I can drool over them with you

.

It IS out there - we just have to be diligent in trying to find it!
