My wife and I have been shopping around for an antique looking right hand ring. We have narrowed it down to just 2 or 3 and are having a very tough time making the decisions. We wanted to take some pictures of the rings, on my wife''s hand. We wanted to have them at home, to browse over and make the decision. All the custom jewelers, who had hand crafted, one of a kind rings had no problem allowing us to take the pictures we wanted to.

The problem came when we entered LeRoy''s, a store I would call a fairly common nation wide chain, to take a picture of the ring on my wife''s hand, you would have thought we were robbing the store. Both of the sales clerks were EXTREMELY rude and stated that it was against thier company policy. We were very polite to them, thanked them, and left. Luckily we were in the store a few days earlier and spoke with someone when we found the ring and have the rings item number so we can get it from another LeRoys if we want.

Am I wrong to think that it should be acceptable for a couple to take pictures of the ring on my wifes hands to help make decisions? It''s not like this was a one of a kind ring. I would expect this kind of reaction from one of the independant jewlery stores who make thier pieces one at a time and unique.

Also, would anyone have any information on how to get in touch with LeRoys upper management, above the store level?

Thank you so much for your help and for listening to my rant!

Also, If anyone would like to suggest some on-line stores that you have dealt with successfully I would appreciate it. We are looking for an antique looking right hand ring, Princess cut center stone, which will sit up kinda high. We would like it to be multi leveled with alot of fillagree (not sure how to spell that) and detail. It can be white gold or platinum or a combination of gold and white gold. Thank you in advance for all of your help and effort!

just quickly.. i sort of know how you feel

and i''m sorry!
the only thing i can answer is to send the complaint... it happened to me with a different branch (but over something different.. just it was the worst service i had EVER received, and it really really just upset me, so i felt i had to write a complaint)

if it is a big store, they most likely will have a website- look it up, on there it SHOULD have a complaint section(or comments) the way mine worked was you sent it directly from the site,
my complaint is still in process, i got a reply from the main office saying they are sending it to the right district or whatever(sending it locally i''d assume)... and we''ll see from there.

but i STRONGLY suggest you write one.. it''ll make you feel a bit better about it,
for me i just calmly explained how upset the sales clerk made me, and told them how i felt, without being overly rude.
but i made it clear that by the service i receive i really try to avoid that store altogether, especially when that clerk is working.

it sucks when you''re experience is tarnished from someone like that.
i''d recommend going to a different location(if thats the ring you pick).. i did something similar, i went and played nice with the lady a SECOND TIME(she was even worst then) but i wanted the number on the ring, so i got it, and left.

its YOUR money, and you should be able to do what it takes to make this purchase special.

Did you ask permission before ripping out a camera and trying to take pictures?

I completely understand them not wanting you to take pictures and that is their right to make such a decision. To them, it seems that you are taking pictures so you can go to another jeweler and show them what you want (i.e. have them make you the other store''s design). I know plenty of shops that don''t mind you taking pictures as you said, but I know some that also don''t allow it. You should just respect their store policy IMO.

Now, the employees being rude is one thing, perhaps it could have been handled better. Who am I to say since I wasn''t there to witness the whole interaction.
