hello... nice to be here in this forum... just wanted to know your opinions about this ring... how much do u think it will cost?

It is a 11.5grams 18K gold case with 14 diamonds surrounding the center diamond. The center diamond is a kite/shield shaped diamond which is 0.71ct in size, excellently cut, L color, and vs1-vvs2 in clarity... set on a rolex design case.

cute! You like it, I take it.

hello how much would you pay for such a ring...?

$0

lol... thought it was goin to be nice to get opinions from others from such a forum. guess not :D anyways, hope someone leaves a reply that is actually helpful and useful for me.

It's a style that seems very particular. It's not a look that would be popular at the moment, I wouldn't think, because it's yellow gold, and in a setting that is just as flashy as the diamond. The current trends are much narrower, delicate, and dainty ones in platinum and white gold.

Have you had it appraised? That would be a good start on what to insure it for for replacement value. As far as what someone else would pay you for that ring, it depends on how much they like it. If you're asking what you should pay for it, how much do you like it?

Taking away the general "you" and making it very specific, if I were in the market I'd ask for it to be weighed and attempt to calculate it's scrap value. The shape is not appealing to me and I wouldn't keep it in that state.

thanks Rhea... well, i just wanted to know if i was able to get it at a good price... got the whole thing for 3grand... and you are right about depends on hoe much people like it... i am just finding for jewelry that are unique and not so typical, and found this diamond.... I do have it appraised for $5500 for replacement value... i just dont know if this replacement amount is fair or a little bit over...?

Scrap value I calculates was ~$460 for the gold, and for the surrounding diamonds ~450... I do not know how much the center diamond would be as there are so few jewelers selling a shape like this...

to be honest probably the person that buys it would probably scrap it for the diamond, so if you are looking to sell it, id probably scrap the setting first and try and sell the diamond.

thanks neilsell... would anyone of you have an idea how much these kinds of diamond would cost? Just got it cause i liek the design, and i thought it was unique to have a kite shaped diamond, and laslty, it matches my rolex watch lol but i was curious if i got a good deal payng 3000 for the ring... what do u guys think? is the ring worth for 3000$ ?

it is just kinda funny because my taste for rings are such and i cant wear them now because it does not suit my age yet.. waiting for the right time i can wear my rings everyday and it will suit me by then... thanks for all the help

that much 18k gold is going to be expensive, and depending on the quality of diamond, i wouldnt say you overpaid. Thing is thats a very specific design, so i cannot imagine thats easy to find. So rarity is a factor. Also if you tried to have someone recreate is as a custom design, would imagine youd have to probably pay around that.

ETA if you like them i say wear them, regardless of age :wavey:

That's a very unique piece! I'm glad you like it, that's most important. That shape is hard to find in a stone so i searched for pears and trilliant in that carat and colour, they show up as 800-1000K. The labour wouldn't be cheap either. It's hard to price also bc it's probably rare and unusual. Granted it's not everyone's taste but how do you price uniqueness?

thanks for your replies... now im more comfortable with the price i paid! thought at first it was pretty good price but then i wanted some validation... what about my other post... that one i have not paid yet but it is in the process... the jade ring.

jeweller is asking for $300 for labor, and I provided everything except the alloys he will use because I gave him 24K gold to use... is $300 reasonable... im quite new to the canadian market as i just migrated here... and i cant compare prices from canada and asia as we pay way way less for labor and materials there... hope to hear from u guys.

I'm not an expert but if the setting is being custom made, 300 for labour is cheap! Youre paying for expertise and craftsmanship...i might be way off base but 300 seems low...have you looked at this person's work portfolio? Are you Confident they will do a good job? Hopefully one of the trade members will weigh I with their opinion.

Btw I really like the design of the jade piece. Let us know how it turns out. And maybe you can recommend a good place to get jade?!

thanks for the reply once again maccers... this is the layout my designer/ jeweller had done from his software... it is in the process now, and I will updtae you when it is done... although i think the finish product would actually be almost or if not, exactly the same as the one in the picture...

Yes, I am confident with his craftmanship because I had one diamond ring which he remodelled and it was great (although it was a much simpler job) bc it was jst remodelling but this jeweller is very good and he has good designs, equipments, and craftmanship! I just wanted to double check because in Aisa, I really get GOOD DEALS which are way cheaper...

I was even a bit confused if I wanted this design but then i want to try soemthing different and something that he actually designed.. i almost went back to my old designs which was having small diamonds surround the center stone... good he insisted on sticking to what he has designed for me...

What kind of jade are you interested in? and would you want them loose or ready made? :)

Sorry didn't ever take part in the discussion... But have to say that the ring is so gorgeous for wearing, it is more stunning than being shown in pictures. :appl: :appl: :appl:

thanks! which ring are u saying that is more stunning than being shown in the pictures? :)

To estimate the value of the original ring, I agree that most people would scrap the gold and sell the diamond. Weight the ring for the gold weight, and calculate how much it would be. Midwest Refineries gives some of the highest prices for scrap gold, and you can find their prices here: http://www.midwestrefineries.com/

For the diamond, I would try to find a comparable diamond through the PS diamond search engine, or places that specialize in low color stones like Diamonds by Lauren or Jewels by Erica and Grace. Take about 50-60% value of the the DBL/jbEG diamond, and that is what you can expect to realistically get if you sell it yourself. You will need to get a diamond report through a reputable place like GIA, to maximize the resale value.

i like it because it looks like a mini rolex! :appl:

thats exactly what i liked about the setting...
