Knee Replacement- misery loves company?

Thanks guys!
Slow and steady slow and steady
@lambskin - if he can sleep ok…… that’s a big one. Sleep disruption was one of my “straw that broke the camels back “

Five week update:
I’ve definitely turned a corner. It’s been a hellish five weeks….. but finally see the light at the end of the tunnel- and it’s not an oncoming train:)
Time for Physical Therapy… loads of fun there.
Thanks so much everybody for accompanying me in this journey

Last night at Shrine, Harlem NY.
Ten weeks out , I stood for the entire 45 minute set!
There’s hope after the surgery:)

You have talent running out your ears, don't you?

Wondered how it is going? How is your range of motion? Can u walk faster? Pivot? Hubby still refusing surgery and walking slow as molasses. He is in pain but does not complain. Can you kneel?

Hi, thanks for asking. Sorry Hubby is in pain.
For me, it’s going better than I could have expected in terms of mobility and range of motion.
But the cost is pain. I’m a real “go getter” type. When I walk down the street in NYC I’m walking faster than 95% of the people.
And I am back walking quickly -it’s natural for me.
I can walk up and down ( more difficult) one flight of stairs.
But my physical therapist tells me I did too much, too soon.
My cardiologist put it well when he told me his patients only had knee surgery when the pain overwhelms the fear.

I still don’t know if I’d do it all again…. But likely if you asked in 6 months - and the sharp memories of the weeks of agony- I’ll say yes, it was worth it.

Way cool. And you have snow!

Glad you are doing better! My close friend just had her knee replacement 3 weeks ago and was in a tremendous amount of pain. Glad there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Skiing!!!!

I have to ask.. is that skiing with ease or skiing with determination? I'm so happy you are doing this well in your recovery.

I was a year and one month before I could do much of anything do to swelling, pain and stiffness. Now it is MY knee and I'm so happy I had the surgery. I'm so grateful for science, modern medicine and PT.

Congrats and keep skiing, (carefully)!!

Niiice!

My dh just had his left knee replacement surgery January 24th so we’re at the beginning of his recovery process. He had his right knee replacement surgery four years ago. That recovery went smoothly so hopefully this one will too.

Sweet you’re back skiing David. Enjoy!!
