Hey, Fiery! Thanks for thinking about me! We did go on the cruise, and we had a great time. I didn''t even realize how relaxed and spoiled I had been until we came home.

I know you''re in Miami, but I have to say that I didn''t get the best impression of it. It just seemed like it wasn''t my kind of town. Of course, this could have been heavily influenced by some of my BF''s decisions... He thought it would be a great way to save money if we skipped out on a taxi (which we read could run $40-$50) and take the city bus from the airport to our hotel in South Beach. Let me just say, NEVER again!! Sitting on a hot, crowded, un-airconditioned bus with 2 50 lb. suitcases was NOT my idea of fun! Plus, the bus didn''t go through very good parts of town and had some crazy characters.

I guess it just wasn''t a good first impression. Our hotel in South Beach was just okay. He booked it on Priceline, so I didn''t have much of a say in it. We walked to this outdoor mall to have lunch, and our 2 sandwiches and a couple drinks each ended up being over $80!! Seeing the art deco distric lit up at night was kind of neat, but I''m just not that much of a party girl. Plus, my BF had told me he didn''t think **we** looked good enough to get in a club, and I blistered the crap out of my feet walking around, so I wasn''t exactly in a good mood...

I will say that the most fun part about Miami for me was that we had played Grand Theft Auto Vice City for several weeks before our trip as a fun way to get ready, and it really did look a lot like Miami! We were able to navigate our way around a bit just based on the game.

Once we got on the cruise ship the next day, things felt a lot better. We were going east as the hurricane was heading west, so we had some choppy waters and a few excursions that were cancelled, but other than that we had a really good time. The best day of the trip was sitting on the beach in Coco Cay surrounded by a tropical paradise. I really needed that. Nassau was just okay - would have been better if we''d gotten to go snorkeling like we''d planned - and Key West was pretty fun. It was also good to have all that time together, just the 2 of us. I will say, when I got home I really missed the cabin steward and the all-you-can-eat buffets!

And yes, the big birthday was a few weeks ago. It was a lot better than I thought it would be. My BF was great - he surprised me the night before by having some of my high school friends meet us out for dinner. He took me to a fancy brunch the morning of my birthday and decorated my house with streamers and confetti. That night, both of our families came over and took me out to dinner. I will say that I had a big freak-out the night before my birthday after we got home from dinner - complete with bawling and crying, "I''m old, I''m running out of time, why doesn''t anyone think I''m good enough to want to marry..." But after that, my BF and I had a good talk (he does think I''m good enough, it''s not me - just things he needs to get right with himself) and I''ve felt calmer and more at peace since then than I have in at least a year. My BF got me a digital camera for my birthday. I was pretty surprised because my old one still worked just fine, but I guess I shouldn''t be - he''s an electronics freak and thought I should have all the latest features. He also got me a few other things, like a comfy robe I''d been wanting for a while. Hmm, how do I convince him to get me something a little more blingy in the future...

So, overall the trip was really great. We already wish we could go back! And the birthday wasn''t so bad. I''m on my lunch break at work right now, but maybe when I get home I can post a few pics.

I’m so glad you had a great cruise! Please do post pics! And don’t worry about your freak-out. LIWs are entitled to a couple (or more) before the big proposal.

I’m not surprised by your impression of Miami. The airport itself is in a pretty bad area with loads of traffic and construction everywhere. I wish I would have known about the bus. I would have told you not to use it. South Beach dining is pretty expensive for no reason other than its in South Beach. Next time you are here, we’ll have to meet up and I’ll take you to areas outside of South Beach that are a little more pleasant. LOL@ GTA!
