Hello all!

I own lab diamond studs which we have not insured. We are on the fence whether to insure those. However if we go with a large lab stone for a ring, we would like to get it insured. Has anyone insured theirs? Did you have any trouble since some predict lab diamond values will continue to decrease? TIA

I insured my lab diamond with Jewelers Mutual @Petalouda . I sent in a copy of the receipt and appraisal and chose the coverage (deductibles etc). Very easy!
Same, I insured my lab ring at its purchase price with JM using the receipt. They told me you can either use an appraisal or your receipt. Generally the appraisal would overvalue it (in my opinion) so I just went with the receipt.

We insured my wife's diamond ring with a separate policy through the same provider of our homeowners and auto insurance.

I have my earrings and five stone ring insured through JM. Super easy! Ring is receipt price and earrings are replacement appraisal. I’ll switch the ring over the replacement appraisal once it’s apraised.

This is great to know. Also, looks like jewelers mutual is a popular choice. Our State Farm insurance for my E-ring and eternity band just expired so we’ll take a look at JM.

I also have some pieces insured through my State Farm home owners policy rider. I read on PS that, should there be a claim, it would/could negatively impact my auto and home insurance. That’s why we went with JM for this one as did my son. Good luck!! :)

ETA I asked my vendor to appraise at purchase price. I didn’t want to pay inflated premiums especially for a lab diamond when no one knows the future values.

I don't currently have lab diamonds so it's not a perfect comparison. But I DO have lab spinel and lab sapphire and Jeweler's Mutual had no problem insuring those. I honestly can't see why they would refuse a lab diamond based on that!

I insured my ring at BriteCo and I sent only the appraisal. I did it all online and the premiums are reasonable. Easy Peasy!

I did mine through State Farm from the receipt as well, had no issues
