We're married!!!! Our day was absolutely perfect, even though it POURED almost all day. We ended up getting married in our backup room, which was at the gardens and has floor to ceiling windows looking out on one of the flower gardens. I really think everything went off w/o a hitch, the only hiccup being Dionne, our photographer, getting stuck on the highway behind a jackknifed semi blocking 3 lanes. She ended up being 30 minutes late, but called to give me a heads up. She was scheduled for 11 to get shots of us getting ready, and in the end I was still in the hair chair when she got there. I can't wait to see what shots she got of my dress, shoes, our rings, invitation, etc, because she took all of them and went playing around the hotel (the girls and I got ready where the reception was held). I have no clue what to expect. She also got pics of me leaving the hotel for the reception in my corset and sweatpants - I totally forgot a tshirt to wear over it and said eh, whatever, what can people really see? I got spotted by some early guests at the gardens, and one of them told me later (she's one of the few people on DH's side I hadn't met already) that she knew she'd like me when she saw me dressed that way w/o a care in the world.
I loved our ceremony, and EVERYBODY cried. DH started the second he glimpsed white outside the door, I started as he said his vows, and at some point everybody in the bridal party was teary, even my younger brothers. My friend who did a reading for us used all the feeling and inflection I first imagined when I found it here on PS ("Union" by Robert Fulghum), and I was touched by how many people commented on how much they liked the ceremony and our vows. We put it together ourselves using the best ceremony book EVER, and our openings to each of our vows was written personally and a surprise to each other.
As for the reception, I absolutely loved all of our vendors. Cake - beautiful and tasty. DJ - perfect in every way for us. He even brought over my dad's glass for him when he got up for his toast and left it behind at his table. Flowers - OMG I am infatuated with my bouquet. And our reception venue was out of this world as far as getting everything right, keeping everything running smoothly, and the food spectacular. The dance floor stay packed all night, and I can't wait to see the photos of one of the groomsmen who hammed it up all night in great style (that perfect amount where he got everyone fired up, but wasn't trying to steal the show).
Ack! Ok, I just realized how much I'm rambling/gushing, so I'll finally get to the point and post the pics.
So far I just have a few from a friend of ours, but I'll post more as I get them.
ETA: I also HIGHLY recommend a day-of coordinator. Ours and her assistant really gave me the peace of mind to just sit back, get ready, and enjoy my day. Not a single worry entered my head concerning vendor arrival, setup, accidentally seeing DH before the ceremony, etc - and my bridesmaids weren't burdened by it either. One of the best investments we made.
