OK...this is so far off base as to be...well, I don''t know. This is totally unrelated to diamonds. I wonder, however, if someone can help me?

I love the song, "Leader of the Band" written by Dan Fogelberg and have it on my iPod (sung by him). I recently heard (piped into the grocery store) a version of that song I have heard for eons. It is sung by a woman. It sounds like Anne Murray singing, in fact. I have tried to see who recorded that song beside Dan Fogelberg (and found a few suspects, none of whom sound like the singer I like). I have looked up Anne Murray to see if she recorded it. So far I have no idea who recorded it, yet I have heard it again and again over a period of years.

Who can help me identify the singer and the name of the CD where it has been recorded?

I can''t really help you, but it wouldn''t surprise me if it was recorded by Anne Murray. I like her a lot. When she was at the height of her career, she recorded covers of several other artits songs. I actually thought she sung some of them better than the original artist''s versions. I hope you figure out who it was, if not her. I''d actually like to hear a version of that song sung by her...that''s one of my all time favorite songs!

The artist is Monique Gonzales. Album is ''Out Of Nowhere.'' It''s a stirring treatment, isn''t it?

I actually listened to part of the Monique Gonzales version on a couple of websites and thought it was *not* the one I wanted...although similar. Am I crazy? (Never mind! Don''t answer that!)

Deb ;-)
