If I am considering purchaing astone that is 1.14 Ct, should I consider stones slightly less than 1 ct to sabe money on the price/ct and upgrade the colr and calrity. Will I notice the size difference?

What is the diameter in mm''s of the stone you are considering? What color, clarity, etc.?

The 1.14ct is a GIA G SI1. Dimensions are 6.71 x 6.74 x4,18

you will definitely save a chunk of change by going with a stone that is less than 1ct. there are significant price jumps at all of the carat marks. side by side you will notice a difference but both sizes are generous and you may not miss anything from the slightly bigger diamond. it''s what is important to you (and her!)

best of luck!

The color is already fairly high, and if the SI1 is eyeclean you probably don''t need to go to a higher clarity. Like Belle said, it''s all about what you prefer. If you would like a higher clarity and color, going just below a carat would be a great option. IMO, your color and clarity look good, if eye clean. The only reason I''d go lower in ct would be to save some $$. Let us know what you decide!

I had no choice but to stay below a carat due to budget and the setting that I wanted. The diamond you''ve picked out at 1.14 carats, if well cut, will face up noticeably larger than a diamond below 1 carat. A lot of it depends on the setting. A halo setting can make a diamond look much larger. It all just depends on what you want.

I went just below a carat too, at .98 my diamond is a smidge under, but saved me some serious cash in our search!

If you''re happy with that diamond, I would stick with that one. G/SI1 is a pretty good combo, IMO. If it''s eyeclean I would stay with the larger size. Many people here upgrade to larger sizes and actually go down in color & clarity. In the end, it really depends on your preferences and your budget.
