Let's play a game... rainbow gems.

My new diadem ruby ring. Burmese., no heat Pigeon blood red, GIA. Just had to buy it when I saw it.
Need to return to Ban Island ASAP.

A little something different for orange. A pair of Bustamite cabochons from Barry B., sharing his picture since it’s better than any I take :)

Oh Crimson... that is one of the finest rubies I have EVER seen on PS. Period. End of story. And the ring! I can't. I'm absolutely in love. How many carats is this stunner? You could serve a life sentence on ban island now, and it wouldn't matter!

I have never seen bustamite that jelly orange color before! It's usually a lighter rhodonite pink color/look. Those cabs are fabulous! I once had a stone that was a pastel mix of pink bustamite, blue richterite, and purple sugilite... a unicorn. I still kick myself for selling it. :wall:

A-MAZING!!

Thank you @VividRed. I know how exacting your standards are so I am thrilled you approve!

Amazing!! :kiss2:
Thank you @2Neesers, I must admit my heart beat faster when I saw this one.

Thank you, @Autumn in New England. This is only 1.2 carat, but it blew me away. So maybe I don’t have to be on Ban Island for that long?

For green, my 0.66ct Torrington emerald/beryl, no treatment, which I have the greatest difficulty photographing so vendor pic included which shows the banding more clearly.

It is such an intriguing gem, @toomuch8.
The cut is clever. With the white band in the centre, I am reminded of a bow. Are you going to set it?

These are usually cut into simple emerald cuts to show off the banding effect. But they are rarely eye clean.
Not sure yet about setting, but I'm intrigued/inspired to maybe do so due to this ring by Rhys Turner :)

Here's my blue.

Just as a question, is anyone familiar with that deep vivid blue that characterises hydrous copper sulphate? Maybe you used it in chemistry. Well, the colour of this specimen is reminiscent of that shade of blue, it's that intense:
IMG_1309.jpgIt's a spinel in marble from Pakistan. It's probably from this deposit here:

The main chromophore is very likely cobalt.

It's great to see one of our uniquely Aussie stones. Yours seems to have more green than usual.

That's a cool, minimalist setting, not just for Torrington emerald but for bicolour tourmaline or sapphire. One for my inspiration folder.

This is my setting:

Half bezel with a rectangular cutout to show stripes. I wear it rarely and with care...

Love to see the unique banding on those torringtons! Gorgeous.

This looks like ink droplets in water... it's so cool.

The farm near my home uses copper sulphate powder when the horses injure their hooves. It's brilliant! And your spinel is the perfect shade of cobalt. :sun:

Blue (and white)

This is fabulous inspiration for a 5-stone bezel ring I'm working on... thank you for sharing! It's such a lovely piece.

PURPLE (or violet or indigo) plays next! Then pink and we're back to red.
