Since I have found this website; laundry, dishes, housecleaning, showering....forget about it.

Hey kids pop in a dvd, Mommy has some "work" to do on the computer!
Is there possibly a patch available for this syndrome?
Nan

ahhh...yes. If I knew, I wouldn't be writing to you, would I?
2.gif

I got hooked a few months back and now I have a fiance who works ridiculous hours, and whenever he calls, he says, "Well, at least you're not alone, you have PriceScope!" LOL!
9.gif

Uh oh... I guess that's what Pricescope syndrome is, huh??
2.gif

Oh no... I guess I have it too...... Hahahahah

I'm not a frequent poster (more of a colored gem person, myself)... but I read just about everything that's posted.

I'm w you, kat

I'm not a frequent poster but luv to read all the intrigue here at PS
1.gif
and, of course, look at diamonds!
love.gif

I wish there WAS some cure too as my house is suffering too, and of course, my kids are completely neglected
2.gif

lol Just kidding! I've never been one for housework, though, so oh well. . .it's not like if I WASN'T on the computer, I'd be scrubbing the floor or something productive like that! lol

I do be sure to shower and exercise, though, or my husband would be suspicious of what I spend all day doing

You know, the very strange thing about me is that I LOVE to scrub! I get enjoyment out of scrubbing sinks, bathtub, countertops, shower, floors, etc. I don't like to pick up around the house, but I do like to scrub. It's therapeutic for me. It's also not a bad workout for the arms!
3.gif

Don't worry, I am fully aware of how strange I am!
9.gif

I totally agree about life coming to a standstill. After I discovered PS, I have literally stopped shopping in all other areas of my life (shoes, clothes, etc) and concentrate my efforts into buying more diamonds! I also check this site *hanging head in shame* several times a day

This is bizarre, but since I found this site, my husband has been extra supportive of me buying TONS of clothes. I literally go shopping twice a week now (and have been for the last few months) and he NEVER complains,
9.gif
, but if I bring up diamonds just in general conversation, not even as a purchasing idea, he gets a bit peeved.

Sumi - You are VERY strange. Please come over and scrub my house for me. . .it desperatly needs a good spring cleaning!!!
9.gif
I know I'll never do it! Even if I'm in the mood, my kids immediately start acting up as soon as I whip out the Comet, so I can't even lock myself in the bathroom to perk up the tub!

Michelle

You guys!
Sumi-my house could use a little elbow grease too.
Anyhow it has come to this:
I want to upgrade my stone, change the setting to platinum and I already have a call into Bob at WF for a seven stone diamond band. Help! Somebody Help me. Oh well, DH's bonus is coming in and its all mine! Truly sick here.
love.gif

Sumi, I wouldn't say you're nuts. I have always had a strange habit of cleaning up and organizing when I am angry.

In college, when I got into arguments with my boyfriend, my roommate always knew before I said a thing, because my side AND her side where clean. Sometimes she threatened to make his really irritate me, as she was extra messy!

Today, still a habit. When I am arguing with the boy, I am a whirl of work...he has to literally grab my shoulders and make me stop. but at least we have a clean home after we let out all the issues!
9.gif

But, PS has urbed my shopping for clothes and shoes too. Alas, I have started to go nuts with gem shopping and saving to pay every bill, ticket, debt and credit so I can start saving for my next jewelery project... *sigh*

I used to be a major clothes horse, but I remember Suze Orman saying what a waste of money expensive clothes are. I've learned to spend some money on the basics--a good black suit every couple of years, navy suit, classic trousers-- and bargain hunt for the rest. I've learned to buy less expensive clothes and make them look more expensive with a good pair of shoes...I really just want more diamonds...And could care less about clothes these days.
9.gif

PS BYOB restaurants are also ways to get more cash into the diamond fund w/o missing out on dining out.

I know...
sad.gif

PS is just an aggravated version of my existing malaise - working on the computer all day! Now there are two computers on my desk
1.gif
since there is no way to run stats and the Explorer at a decent speed... I don't even know what will I do once my paper is done and I'll have to get back to the world with people staring as soon as I mention "gemology" as my hobby
sad.gif
Does PS work on some sort of hand-held device?
errrr.gif

Ana, yes. Just got a WiFi fancy little HP thingy. It gets internet (if I wasn't so cheap to set it up for a monthly fee of $29 or so...), so Price Scope is just a click away!

As for Suze Orman, bless her little heart, she's great. I have a similar take on pricey clothes. If I really like the designer, I find it at a Century 21, Marshall's, TJ Maxx, Outlet store (lots out here!) or even smaller boutique sales. Works wonders!

But I say that diamonds make ANY outfit, and can make basically any outfit look good, becuase people will stare at them and not what you are wearing! but imagine good shoes...WITH diamonds!!!
love.gif

Look at the rap stars and all who wear those sweatsuits with jewels. Who knew you could wear gymwear and diamonds!?

It gets worse! The latest outrageous fashion in Eastern Europe gets you in jeweled embroidery - Byzantine style. My tailor is complaining of security issues during fitting sessions
6.gif
I though she got nuts before the wild reality dawned to poor little me. Forget e-rings - think diamond studded gowns. Wasn't this supposed to be a poor country during elections year ?!

The Byzantine style sounds great to me (I always have a thing or two with those lavish gowns). I'm not sure about the diamond studded gowns bit. Can't they use some CZ (or faceted glass) for that?

I already have people staring at me like I have 4 heads when I mention my hobby of gemstone and mineral collecting. They thought I am just itching to get engaged. I had to explain that "No.. I don't care for diamonds per se.. I prefer something more like this..." then I'd pull up a picture of something like a watermelon tourmaline.

PS on a handheld... what a (gem) geek's dream.. Oh my! I may have to do that..

Kat, I too am IN LOVE with gemstones, and as of now, have been solely supporting the gemstone economy in most of Thailand and Sri Lanka.

I went a wee bit nuts on E-Bay.
eek.gif
(don't tell Rand!)

Yes, isn't sad how most people in the real world will look at you all funny when you talk diamonds. I think Mara said, that they look at you thinking, "what's to know about diamonds? They sparkle", and once you talk symantics, it's all over!

But honestly, I wouldn't mind a diamond studded gown. Not all over, but in the right accents, that could be absolutely STUNNING...with a pair of rubie and diamond shoes 3.5 in strappy heels...
love.gif

What about these?

"The stiletto sandal on a 4 ½ - inch invisible heel is covered with more than 500 dazzling diamonds set in pure platinum giving the illusion that there is no shoe, just diamonds twinkling on the foot. Nestled among the clear classic diamonds is an extraordinarily rare colored diamond. Never seen before, this diamond, which is amaretto in color and approximately 5 karats, is being specially cut and polished for the Weitzman shoes. With the rare colored diamond valued at well over $1 million and the shoes adorned with an additional 55 karats of clear diamonds, this pair of shoes will likely sell for $2 million or more."

... I think I went a wee bit overboard in supporting the gemstone economy of Srilanka and Thailand (and COLOMBIA! and Brazil, and Tanzania, and Burma... yada.. yada.. yada). So now I'm technically on gem sabbatical...

But look what I got myself into... Pricescope!! Gone are all my resolves...

luckyhonu, the shoes are really cool. WOW..

Ok.. so I can't resist digging through my saved pics of sumptuous wedding gowns.

Here's one that may look really nice studded with diamonds and gemstones.

That only works if you're not a weird size. I spend enough time already trying to find things in a size 4 or 6 tall! Those outlet stores generally don't carry anything in my size, or if they do, I can't find it!

Just get some nicely made clothes with good lines, good tailoring, and good fabric, and you can play around with the rest. Stretch in a fabric is great, and you can get away with less-expensive tailoring.

I am with you all on the PS addiction!

And Sumi and Nic on the cleaning. I like to clean when I'm stressed. Between the ring ordeal and studying right now - my house is sooo clean that I would have no way to procrastinate wiothout PS! IT gives me a nice break from studying - ten minutes here, there, to switch modes and relax a little. It's nice remebering there's a world out there!

I did not have electricity all day today and I was withdrawing! Lat time we lost power it took seven days to get it back! TOday was a record - 12h. If my cell phone had run out before they came back, I could have been here for days.... Maybe someone would have noticed that I did not post and send a search party!

I love the Tahitian pearls, too! What gemstone would you put on the dress? I wasn't going to get one, but in five minutes of being on PS I already want a Shitzu and the pearl and satin wedding dress... Ah me!

Expensive clothes ARE a waste of money. Fashion changes too frequently to be spending hundreds on one shirt! I feel a bit lucky in that since I'm a SAHM, I can wear whatever I want and I can pick out my outfits with my mood swings rather than with my need to impress an office staff or cliential. I love the Gap and Banana Republic. Not at all expensive, but cute and stylish and IF something happens to a piece, like a cup of juice gets spilled across the front, just toss it out! No huge loss!
1.gif
lol

Oh, and diamonds do make these simple outfits work nicely. Nothing wrong with a stretchy t-shirt and a pair of diamond stud earrings. Clean and classic

What in the world is Uma wearing? Horrible! Looks like light weight drapary fabric. What an INSULT to the female body and I wouldn't be caught DEAD in that even if it meant skipping the Oscars and being burried alive!

Michelle

Uma!!! Ack!

Are you sure that wasn't the Worst Dressed page?...

I agree, MC - I am not doing much of anything (structured) right now and my beuatiful dimonds dress up my tee-jeans up to ! lol - it's not hard to look good in georgetown!

Okay--I am coming out of the closet--no pun intended.

I am working on making my diamond dream a reality--a graduated tennis necklace, 14 ct tdw, E-F, VS2....Graduated RBs up to a carat in the very center, platinum basket setting.

When I saw it at my jewelers, I thought "how ridicuous"...then I tried it on....I saw myself in my best black business suit with it....and in jeans and a white v-neck tee. When I tell people--only a VERY select few--they are like "Where the hell are you going to wear that?" I just say "Everywhere."
9.gif
9.gif
9.gif
It's the perfect size to be tasteful in almost any setting. Hell, I'll be cleaning my toilet with it on.
2.gif

It will take a while but it's hidden away with my name on it and I am working towards it.... I can't wait. And hey--it's actually helping me with my diamond addiction. With this thing on, you really don't need any other jewelry, so it's actually SAVING me money. (Suze Orman would be having a stroke right now.)

...except for one thing... now, I need studs.
9.gif

I have been wearing these, 2 ct tw, F-G, VS2-SI1 3 stone earrings as my "basic" diamond earrings, and never was into studs but between this necklace eventually and all the great studs pple have posted here (esp the martini settings--love those!
3.gif
), I think i will need to get a pair.

I'll start working on my husband for Christmas.

WOWWWEEEEE!!!! You should not stay in that closet - it's too lovely! Of course it goes woith everything!!! I know what you mean about helping with the diamond thing - I have my "ideal" piece, too. It helps one stay focussed! Less is more here - becuase I am more clear about what I want I need less jewlery - just the couple of pieces that can be worn with the most versatiliy. Keep us posted on your secret - and the earrings, too!

Thanks for the support, Wallace!

I had felt embarrassed about it when the "What is your diamond 2004 goal" thread came up in the beginning of the year. And this may be a 2004-2005 goal when it's all wrapped up. I worked out a payment plan with my jeweler (hey, I probably put his kid through college by now--he will work with me!)

It will take a while but it is mine. I dream about it. Sometimes, my husband says I have a little smile on my face while I am sleeping...I am dreaming of the necklace no doubt! So many outfits to pair it with, so many ways to show it off, so many chances to act like it's nothing...just another bauble I picked up, oh, somewhere....

Isn't that sick?
