Gypsy - What is it you don''t like about the corset back?
The look. I like buttons. LOL. What I do like about the corset back is the way I can tighten it and loosen it as I need, the lower cost of alterations as a result and the fact that the maggie with it is REALLY affordable. But if it weren''t for the cost, I wouldn''t get a corset back gown. I just don''t care for the look. Strange but true.

Well, if you want buttons, you want buttons! I think corset backs tend to be cheaper because they are less labor intensive and fitted. I didn''t like "busy corset backs" so I had mine altered to remove every other loop at the suggestion of the tailor. It made it look more elegant and less zig-zaggy. I''m wondering if you can replace the corset back with a zipper/button panel. It would be the opposite of what most people do, but if the back is plain enough (no embroidery or beading) you may be able to do it.

LOL Sumbride. I never thought of that. It certainly doesn''t hurt to ask a seamstress about that. Maggie apparently isn''t change friendly to her dresses, so from what I gather, asking HER to do that would be a no go. Thanks for the suggestion, its a very good one!

Yeah, I doubt Maggie would do it since it is her "trademark" but the right seamstress may be able to do it for you and give you the best of both.

THat''s a great point. As I recall the train on that gown is MONSTER long, so I was thinking of asking to order it shorter. But maybe I won''t (if I order that dress) and I''ll just keep the long train for the materials.
