I've been meaning to put the stats up on my diamond for a while. I've been lurking on these boards for a while and finally have one of my own! Engaged 10/20/12 (I know, I'm a bit late posting). I told my fiance that I wanted to stay as far away from the "crushed ice" look as possible. He knew how much I adored the chunky facets but also the qualities of a round brilliant, but it was slightly out of our price range. He did amazing, and found a cushion that was both of those combined! I'm still trying to decide whether or not to reset it, because I've had a hard time looking for wedding bands that don't over crowd my hand (I have freakishly tiny hands, average ring size). I've also included GIA image, because I still have not found an SI1 as clear as mine! All of the pictures were taken in an office with a cell camera, so obviously not the best way to show off the ring :)

Stats:
GIA Certified Cushion Modified
1.51
SI1 Clarity (take a look at the GIA image)
I colors (no yellowing whatsoever!)
No Florescence
Excellent Polish
6.46 x 6.41 x4.47
Ring Size: 4.5 (but sized to 4.75)

I found the location of the diamond online, cut is rated as Ideal to "Signature Ideal" depending where it was located. All I asked of him was to get the highest cut quality, and he delivered :)

Very pretty and classic! It looks great on your hand. Congratulations on your engagement!

Absolutely stunning! :appl: Congratulations!!!

Beautiful! Love the split shank!

Congratulations!! I really adore that split shank setting - and your hands are GORGEOUS!! The diamond is beautiful! Your fiance did VERY well :appl:

Beautiful cushion, congratulations. :))

Gorgeous, it looks perfect on you and so big! Congrats!

I would suggest a custom made eternity band that is mad to the curvature and can sit flush with your e-ring. The width should be the same as one of your e-ring shanks. I have tiny fingers (sz 2.75) and find this will maintain the set with a delicate look and not bulky rings overwhelming the finger. I want to leave enough space between the ring and the knuckle.

Absolutely gorgeous ring! Such a beautiful rock and looks perfect on your tiny fingers! Enjoy, and congrats to you and your fiance!

Very pretty!

He did a great job...its lovely!

Beautiful! I'd just get a thin diamond band the same width as a shank on your e-ring. But I strongly prefer a straight band.

Please don't reset it, your ring is lovely! It really looks great on your hand, so I wouldn't change the setting at all.

WRT your wedding band options, I'd follow the advice of both DS and CharmyPoo:

I like CharmyPoo's advice for your everyday wband. By having a ring that's made to follow the curves of your ering, it will maintain the beauty of the split-shank design without taking up too much space on your hands. Also, by having it designed specifically for your ering, there won't be any spinning, etc to deal with that you'd probably have with a wband "off the shelf".

That said, I also like DS's advice, where you'd have a second wband that's a straight diamond band that's the same width as your ering. This is important for those days that you don't want to wear your ering, and you'd just like to have a single band of bling for running around town, etc. Since your first wband would be designed with a curve, I wouldn't want to wear it by itself because it will look as though something's "missing"; however, you could always wear the straight band w/ your ering as an alternative when you want to change things up a bit.

Of course getting both rings isn't cheap, but you don't have to do both at the same time. You and your hubby-to-be can figure out which look you can afford to start out with, and the second band can be an anniversary gift (or birthday, holiday, Valentines, etc). Just another option for you to think about. We can never have too many options when it comes to jewelry! :naughty: ;))

Hi all, thanks for all the kind words and recommendations!! Part of me wanted to do something that looked completely different as my wedding band, to ensure that I didn't look like I was stacking on bands. Here are two ideas I've been playing around with (in either white gold or platinum), given that I keep my current setting, which I believe is a Henri Daussi setting.

Athough I still like DS and CharmyPoo's suggestions, I totally understand that you're trying to go with a completely unique look.

So of the two bands you've shown us, I'd pick the first one (ie, one with blue stones) because I think the angles in that band complement the angles of your cushion diamond. I also think you should get the same metal that you have for your ering (ie, if your ering is platinum, I think you should get your wband in platinum as well).

I had a few questions though ... do you know how wide the wbands are? are you okay with a wband that's wider than your ering band? do you know how high the profiles of the wbands are? do you know for sure that they can slide under your diamond? or do you prefer for your wband to sit outside of the edge of your diamond (which will take up quite a bit of space on your finger)?
