Lookalike Cartier Necklace?

Hi,

I've always liked tricolor jewelry but the Cartier ones are just too expensive for me. It's not a question of saving up to get exactly what I want - I could save up, but the Baby trinity that I like is $1850 plus tax, so about 2 grand, for a petite gold necklace. Even the sweet Trinity (similar, but with a double chain) is $1440 plus tax. I just don't want to spend that kind of money on it.

So, I googled tri-color ring necklaces and there's not that many choices, at least none that seem substantial/well-made. I did find this one from Blue Nile though.

Do you think it would be a good substitute for the Cartier? I could also get $50 off, so it would be $195 instead of 2k! I have some earring hoops that are half an inch like the rings, so I put them on a chain and I liked the size. What do you think of it? Do you think it would look nice? Or cheap?

The first image is the Cartier. The second is the Blue Nile. Blue Nile one has rings of half an inch, but the cartier website doesn't say the measurements of the baby Trinity rings. It looks similar, about half an inch.

Thanks in advance for your opinion.

For around $200 and an awesome return policy, what do you have to lose? I think you need to see it in person to see if you are ok with the quality.

Right, what do I have to lose? Maybe I'll order it. I guess only I will know that it isn't cartier, right?? To my eyes it looks very similar, but I'm not very familiar with Cartier in close up.

Have you seen their new amulet collection? It's TDF, but again too expensive for me. This one is 2550 plus tax. It's nice though! They also have a pink one.

Well, blue nile doesn't look like cartier but at 10% of the price, it's an affordable option for a similar look. I'm not a fan of blue nile's metalwork though. I tried couple things and sent them back.

Oh that's interesting baby monster. Was it too light, or something else?

Yeah, it's a fraction of the cartier price. Makes you think.

Ring edges were sharp. To me, sharp metal edges = cheap and unfinished.

Post pictures if you get it. It looks really cute but I know it's hard to tell until you actually get it.

HI:

I've seen a few Cartier Trinity necklaces on the Estate market. Have you checked ebay and First Dibs?

cheers--Sharon

How about rollingring.com?

I got DH's wedding band from this vendor and the quality is great! - two tone unity ring - brushed yellow and brushed white. Solid, heavy, beautifully constructed.

Great idea, PintoBean! The only thing is, the edges of the Blue Nile one are flatter from the front, which I like. But perhaps the rollingring one is worth a try - will definitely consider it!

Right, I see. I take it that the ring wasn't meant to be a knife edge style!

Hi Sharon, I must admit I haven't checked those sites for it because the baby trinity is $1850 retail so an estate one would still be well into the four figures? It was a good idea though!

Well, I ordered the Blue Nile necklace and it arrived yesterday. The bad news is that I have to leave in a moment to go help my niece move house, won't be back till late and then I have to pack tonight because I'm going home to Miami for a few days first thing tomorrow, back late Weds. Therefore it will be Thursday before I can photograph it! I'm sorry!

So, it's cute but very lightweight. It's also small - the rings are about the same size as the ones on the sweet trinity, which I've seen in real life but not the baby trinity.

To be honest, I'm not sure it's special enough to keep, even for $195. Blue Nile does a larger version which I can try in the future. I did want something small and sweet like the Cartier ones, but it's very lightweight so doesn't "feel" that special. On the plus side, it does look very Cartier-esque. I will have to have a think about it. The necklace does look nice and for a fraction of the Cartier price, perhaps it's a good trade-off.

Will post pics when back!
