I'm in the market for a round or oval (preferably round) pale pink sapphire (or possibly spinel) within 1 - 1.5 Cts. Ideally I'd prefer not to spend more than $1,500. Peacechick identified this stone https://gemfix.com/gems/sapphire-pink-13-497 which honestly seems to be pretty close to what I'm looking for. This stone is $400 cheaper on the same site: https://gemfix.com/gems/sapphire-pink-13-520 Is it because it has extinction? Anyway, if anyone knows of any other stones that match the profile, I'd be interested in checking them out, thanks!

The oval is light in tone but decently saturated.
The round is light in tone but with low saturation.

I see, thanks. I realize that these aren't great shots, but are you able to tell if the 1.14 ct stone here has low saturation as well? Does it seem accurately priced? Insights into the 1.04 ct stone would be appreciated too. If the photos are too poor I can go back to try and take better ones.

Avoid the 1.04, it has a large window although the color is nice. Same for the 1.87. The 1.14 seems to be nicely cut but I would describe it as pink with a slightly purplish hue. Does that match with what you see? Is this stone for yourself or an engagement ring? If intended for someone, do you know what shade of pink she likes?

The round is also lower priced because it's not a pure pink under incandescent. The seller says there's a tinge of lilac under incandescent.

Hmm OK, thanks for the info. I need to look again I guess because I do see what you mean regarding the purplish hue. I don't remember seeing that in person, but tbh I'm so frustrated by not finding the right hue at this point that I may just be seeing what I want to see...

It would be an engagement ring. She specifically wants a very pale pink; the oval gemfix color is pretty much exactly what she'd like in terms of color. She'd prefer round, but wouldn't mind oval.

This would be so much easier if she liked diamonds.

Interesting, thanks. Slightly irrelevant but I had one jeweler tell me that pale pink sapphires are poorer quality, and that ones with purplish hues are better and more desired. I'm starting to think that they were full of BS and just saying that because they didn't have pure pink ones. :)

Some more options to look at. This Canadian cutter has a lot of pinks in different shapes:

There are two pink ovals on Jeff White’s site, he is an amazing cutter:

In case you like hot pink too, this oval is beautiful but is in Australia. They are not on the PS vendors list but people here have bought from them.

This vendor is in Sri Lanka and can be hit or miss, but the price is very good. Spinels are usually not treated and therefore fairly safe to buy. Returning is not easy though.

Ha, that is for sure BS. Most desired would be pink-orange (padparadscha), hot pink and then pure pink or pastel pink.

Thanks for the suggestions, all!

What about this pale pink Oval from Jeff White? It may be too purple toned depending on your taste.

That is definitely a beautiful stone but unfortunately yeah, I think it's a bit too purple toned. I'll keep an eye on the site though, I do love the cuts.

Lots of good stuff, thanks! I've noticed a lot of pale pink ones seem to be somewhat shallow, with a depth of around a half of the diameter. Is that because the depth affects the hue, or is that unrelated?

I like this one
https://www.earthstreasury.com/product/1-03-carat-light-peachy-pink-ceylon-sapphire/
But it's described as peachy pink. I don't really see the peach color but maybe that's due to the photo.

This
https://www.earthstreasury.com/product/1-46-carat-pale-pink-ceylon-sapphire/
is described as pale pink, but looks practically clear to me.

I like the PristineGemstones one you linked too, although this one seems closer in color: https://www.etsy.com/listing/545259147/
Out of all of these, I think I'd lean towards this one the most.

On that 1.03ct, the peachy color is toward the center of the gem, which looks not as pink to me as the edges.

I agree that the 1.46ct is too pale and looks like a not-quite-colorless white sapphire to me. Pass.

I still prefer the original 0.98ct Gemfix oval, but for rounds I agree PristineGemstones has the prettiest. Plus, PristineGemstones is priced lower.

Check out Cecile Raley Designs on Etsy. She has some very pretty light pink sapphires and spinels.

My favorite is the first Gemfix oval you posted and second is the slightly lilac oval by Jeff White. I am partial to rounds and they are harder to find in sapphires. You had several that were too pale for my taste, but pick what you like best. Congratulations and happy hunting!
