Don't know anything about diamond purchasing but a friend pointed me to this site. I am in the process of purchasing a diamond solitare (that will be set in a halo-types setting), and was wondering what your thoughts about the value of the attached I found on bluenile.com? Most important thing to me is size, so I can skimp on color and inclusions... budget is $30K.

Appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks!!

Stats look okay except it does have a strong blue flouresence. I would call blue nile and just be sure that the stone is eye clean. Even though you can see the flaws on the chart. Ask if they have an ideal scope of the stone. Ultimately its the cut that makes the most difference. I can tell yoou from experience that cut is what give the stone its brillance. Good luck

I can't buy a stone without pictures and preferably an idealscope image. James Allen will provide both. I think they give an additional 5% discount to PS members paying by wire. Anyway, they have three 3 ct I SI1's. It helps immensely to see the videos. If you click on a stone, a video will load in the main picture area. After it loads, if you click on it, the diamond will revolve and you can easily see the inclusions (or not, if totally eyeclean).

The first two look pretty good and the last one has too many inclusions for me. That is why it is almost impossible to by SI clarity stones from Blue Nile unless you want to go to the trouble of sending for it or sending it to an appraiser to check out for you. If it is going into a halo, you could go down into the high 2 ct range and be able to go up to H color probably.
