So here is my dilemma. I just received my 3 stone emerald cut with trapezoid sides. It's beautiful! My local jeweler was worried about setting the main stone because of a natural cavity in the corner. This is actually a good thing, I can send my setting off to a jeweler who has more confidence in not cracking it and can do a claw prong! I spoke with David Klass, truly lovely, and he will set it for me. However, shipping is going to cost me an arm and a leg! Any recommendations for jewelers in the San Diego area that are as talented as David?

I am sorry I can't be more helpful for the San Diego area, but I would DEFINITELY reach out to Caysie (CVB Inspired Design). She is in northern Cali so the shipping should be much less (or maybe she or someone she knows is traveling to SoCal in the near future).

I had a few pieces made by her recently and I was blown away by her work!! The rings blew my mind and were so much better than I ever imagined!! She is soooo creative and her work is amazing (not to mention her prices are great too)!

I FINALLY found a center stone (a 4 plus carat emerald) and she just started working on my setting (it's currently set with 2 traps in a temporary setting). I am sooooo excited to see what she comes up with.

Trust me….reach out to her at least!!!

Um, David's closer to her than Caysie is. So shipping should either be less or the same.

Make the trip out to LA if you're concerned about cost. Spend a weekend up in the beach cities or something. Or even a day trip. There's plenty DTLA has to offer. Otherwise, I've visited H. Moradi in La Jolla before. They do amazing work. I don't know what their costs are like compared to DK though.

The distance is not as much of an issue as the insurance is.

Did you check the rates for USPS Registered Mail? They offer up to $50k in insurance if you can't locate anyone locally.

The ring looks gorgeous, by the way!

Yeah, if you're in San Diego area and you want DK to do your setting, I'd just drive it up - or take the train and a very short taxi trip over to the jewelry district.

Thanks everyone, I will probably go with David. I will reach out to the La Jolla jeweler. My life is crazy right now... I have a baby I am breastfeeding, a 2 year old and 4 year old. I can't take a trip to LA... I probably shouldn't have taken on this ring!

Sorry! I totally read David Klass, but for some reason in my head thought of Steven Kirsch! My bad.

I cannot wait to see your 4 carat! Wow!!!!

Any chance you can share which La Jolla Jeweler? I need someone too...

Madalise posted about H Morati but I think I'm going to stick with David.

Thanks for the rec. I just need basic setting so I will look into him.
