Hi everyone! I'm a newbie to PS and am looking for some help. My bf and I have started the process of creating my perfect engagement ring but neither of us know too much about diamonds. We have done some research and I am in love with the Harry Winston micropave. Since it is out of our price range we are hoping to recreate it. I have seen Victor Carena's Emilya on here and am impressed with his work. Taking into account the price of his setting, our center stone budget needs to stay under $15,000. Here is what I am looking for:

Size: 1.5ct+ (would love to have 2ct!)
Cut: I like the chunky facets of an antique cushion but also like the modern hearts and arrows; want to avoid the watery crushed-ice look; want as little light leakage as possible for best optimal performance
Clarity: eye clean
Color: faces up white (I'm really not a fan of yellow)
L:W Ratio: square 1:1

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Please let me know if more information would be helpful.

;( ;( ;( ;( ;( . Haha, jk ( i love love love crushed ice cushions), but would still love to help you!

Here are a few:

http://beta.jamesallen.com/#!/loose-diamonds/Cushion-cut/2.24-carat-I-color-VS2-clarity-sku-163641

If you haven't registered for the beta (which I highly suggest because you'll be obsessed), here's the other listing also showing the PS discount:

I'll keep looking, although it's hard for me to look for "chunky" cushions

I love the antique cuts, so here are my two cents:

I didn't see any on GOG's website that would fit your requirements. It doesn't seem like there have been many waves of new additions yet (I think he is still trying to clear some of his current stock) but you could always reach out to him and ask if he has anything that might work for you. He can look for old stones not newly cut as well. Personally I love the symmetry and light performance of the AVC, but that would likely be the most expensive route. However, since you say that you like both the antique and the modern hearts & arrows, I think you would appreciate this the most.

Victor Canera also has a line of newly cut antique cushions that he is coming out with, so since you are planning on getting a setting from him you could ask him to see if he has anything in line that would fit your wishes as well!

Another option would be Adam at Old World Diamonds. I did a quick search and many of them were elongated, and not all of the listings have pictures. Here are a couple that maybe you could ask him for more pictures for:
http://www.oldworlddiamonds.com/detail.php?ID=2577&SHAPE=C 2.06 I VS2, ratio 1.019 $13699
http://www.oldworlddiamonds.com/detail.php?ID=3367&SHAPE=C 2.01 I SI3, ratio 1.01 $7912
maybe http://www.oldworlddiamonds.com/detail.php?ID=2398&SHAPE=C 2.01 J VS2, ratio 1.026 $9962

The last idea I had for you was Jewels by Erica Grace. She has a pair of 1.5ish cushions selling for under 15k. The listing says they would prefer to sell them as a pair but will sell them separately if asked. The 1.57 is a 1.03 ratio for $6750 and the 1.54 is 1.02 for $7495. http://jewelsbyericagrace.smugmug.com/Jewelry/Loose-Diamonds/311ctw-Loose-Antique-Cushion/26057574_QxbLWt#!i=2164083323&k=m8N66rN

You know what, I'm sorry, skip this...Just noticed the huge gash on the top of it...Sorry! :nono: Although, you may be able to have it polished out...and It'd still be a great deal!! You may want to ask GOG if you're interested or Brian Gavin Diamonds...

Wow thank you to all of you for your recommendations! I will check out each and every one of them.

Can someone please give me some more information about the James Allen PriceScope discount?

Thanks again!

I believe the discount works out to approximately 5.5% and then there is an additional 1.5% discount for wire transfers. You should also check out their upgrade, buyback, trade-in, return and warranty policies and compare them to other vendors you may be considering. I'm not sure which other vendors offer a PS discount but I'm sure someone else here can let you know.

Taking into account that the setting costs between $4-5k, do you guys think this Leon Mege ring is a good deal at $19,500 or could I go bigger for the same amount by sourcing a different diamond? This antique cushion is beautiful and the chunkiness is just what I want and Perry said it is 100% eye clean, but I would prefer to go bigger for the same price if possible. What do you think?
