Hello all,

I'm searching for a gem (wife's birthday!). Did my homework, read up, checked out various recommended sites, B&Ms but just can't seem to find any.

She loves square cushion cut, light pastel colors and definitely halo setting (yes, lots of filters).

If all fails, should I get a precision/custom gem? How much should I be looking at, would budget of $500 suffice?

Any thanks in advance and your help is greatly appreciated :wavey:

acstones often has cushion cut tourmalines in light pastel colors. You'll be hard pressed to find a spinel though as those sell out in a nanosecond, unless it's super expensive.

If you post some sample photos of the colors and size she might like we could help look. :).
What time frame do you need it in?

Wow - great find MTG! :appl: That would fit the bill beautifully! (unless the stone is not pale enough for the OP?)

Great pricing and the setting is spot on to what was requested!

Thanks all for the fast replies :halo:

TL: Barry has a purple spinel right now but "fairly dead in the centre..." hence passed that: http://www.acstones.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=80&idproduct=2604

MakingTheGrade, Enerchi: I have KIV something similar too (LOGR). The color is rather dark, preferably lighter shades like these:

The only reason that the purple spinel is still around is because Barry didn't cut it. I think you're a lot more likely to get a pastel in a tourmaline. I would go with tourmaline if your wife isn't too hard on jewelry, as they can chip.
