Hello all,

I''m new here, and can I just say, what a wonderufl place! I just got engaged, the engagement ring is currently being custom made, and I need ideas for the wedding band. I''ve never been a big jewelry person, I only have a few pieces that are very special, and really don''t know too much about jewelry, diamonds, settings, and all of that. This has been such a good place for information.

The engagement ring has a .75 ct princess cut alexandrite, surrounded by a pave halo, also with pave sidestones. I apologize if I''m not getting all the terminology correct, this is all new to me.

We''re going to have the wedding bands custom made as well (fiancee''s fathers best friend happens to be a jeweler) so we can have whatever we want, I just have no idea what I want, and what will work well with that ring. Please post pictures of your wedding bands and how they match up with your e-rings? I would really appreciate the help, I''m just completely out of my leaugue here.

Thank you!

Becky

~~It sounds like you could go with (1 or 2) thin pave'' bands, or plain bands. Do you have any pics of your e-ring??

I agree (like MINE''s set) can''t wait to see it. It''s my birthstone.

~~I found a pic of MINE!!''s rings for reference...more pics in here

I think that would look perfect. I love her set.

This isn''t my ring exactly, my center stone is much smaller and alexandrite, but this is the general idea for the setting. I guess by biggest concern is how a wedding band is going to sit flush against the engagement ring, and if they will look okay next to each other, I don''t want them to end up looking mismatched. It looks like the setting would prevent another band from setting up against it.

Yeah, that setting isn''t going to allow a traditional wedding band to sit flat against it. You can either live with a gap, get a notched band, or get a curved wedding band

Yep, that basket will prevent a ring from sitting flush. I''d either determine whether I could live with the gap, or get a notched band.

Hi Becky - welcome to Pricescope!!

The picture you posted, is it "the general idea" or a very close replica, specifically in reference to the basket holding the center stone and halo? I guess I''m just confused, does your real ring have this type of basket, or are you looking at the picture and assuming your own ring has the same type of basket?

I really like the look of curved wedding bands (one of my friends has one soldered to her ering) and treysar and njc each have a gorgeous curved wband, and I''m certain there are a few others on here that you can find examples of. I think it''s kaylagee that has space between her ering and wband and loves it, researcher has a spacer band that is notched to fit flush with her ering and a wband that sits up against the spacer band so she doesn''t have a space, you get the idea - there are lots of options out there. I think you should go try on wbands of all kinds with your fiance (Congrats on your engagement by the way!!!!!!) and see what styles you like and dislike. Maybe you''ll like a plain band look with your pave ering, maybe you like the added bling of a diamond band, maybe you want one band, maybe 2 bands flanking the ering (like MINE!''s), maybe you like straight bands, curved bands, maybe you want to wear your ering on one hand and the wband on the other (I have another recently married girl friend who does this - ering on L hand, wband on R hand), etc etc etc. And please post pictures of your engagement ring!! it sounds awesome!

I think a simple pave band with your e-ring would look great.

Here''s mine.
